Our Church History
In 1909 the Hessel community built its first school. It was here that
the community began to center around the family. The first school teacher
was Miss Hessel, daughter of the pioneer family for which the community
was named. Miss Hessel was a Christian who had just graduated from teaching
college. When she found out that the boys and girls did not have a Sunday
School to attend, she started one in the "new" schoolhouse. That
core group grew to about 30 and stayed there for many years.
Milestones
- In the
30's the congregation moved to the community butcher shop and met in cars
for classes.
- In
the 50's Meeker Hall and French Hall were built. In 2002, we moved into
our new Worship Center.
- Under the 38-year leadership of Pastor Ron Cundall
who came in 1954, the church grew both spiritually and numerically. Pastor
Ron stepped down from the role of senior pastor in 1992.
- In 1992, Rich
Cundall was installed as the senior
pastor.
