For 31 years, the Dave and Elaine Crane were missionaries in Trinidad where they planted 19 churches. Instead of retiring, in 1990 they were sent by TEAM to China where they had some great years of ministry. In the last few years they spent a few months annually in China preaching and teaching and assisting the work there.
Dave died of cancer in November 2007.

Dear Hessel Family,
At precisely 8:48 this very Sunday morning, just before you gathered for church services, our United Airlines flight is to leave LAX bound for Hong Kong. We feel absolutely engulfed by your love and prayers. How can we say "thank you" for your caring spirit.
Monday we arrive in Hong Kong, hopefully to recoup from Jet Lag. Thursday we start the next segment by taking the 4 1/2 hour trip by Catarmaran up the Pearl River Delta to Dave's home town of Hoiping.
There we will be met by our four missionary co-worker couples and their six vibrant little boys. There will be hugs and tears from the blind ladies in their eighties who grew up with David in the Crane Orphanage. More hugs and chatter will be felt and heard during the three day week-end celebration of the 5th anniversary of the completion of the building and opening of the Sun Cheung Church.
The following days will be spent in the grand fellowship of the above four young missionary families and the local Chinese pastors uplifting and encouraging them to "enlarge their borders for the Lord".
We will be in homes meeting with new sisters and brothers in the Lord since our last trip in Hoiping. There will be opportunity to minister to those who have never heard the name of Christ as we pray that they too will respond to Christ's open arms.
We will be feasting around tables ladened with wonderful delicacies as chicken feet, flying frog, snails, goose, cows innards, etc., etc. At times we are sure our thoughts will turn to you at Hessel wishing you could enjoy these tasty morsels with us.
Upon returning to Hong Kong we will be ministering to a Chinese congregation and also to a Fillipino congregation which we helped begin over fifteen years ago. Sept. 17th we trust to return back to the U.S.
The doctor has said the cancer is spreading so rapidly that the ill affects should be felt within a few weeks. We are trusting God for strength and stamina to fulfill our committments before this takes place. Our hearts desire is to be blessing and encouragment in the Lord to all we meet. THANK YOU for uplifting us before the throne.
Love, David & Elaine Crane
