Dan still stays quite active with American Missionary Fellowship, even though he is officially listed as "senior retired active." He is doing many of the same things he did while he was Area Missionary of the Redwood Empire the past 12 or so years. He stays involved with the small churches, often supplying speakers for them, counseling with various people, teaching Bible Studies from time to time and serving on the Boards at Mt. Gilead. He is also pastoring an AMF church in Willits, which has about 30 members, and struggles with a congregation of elderly members and newer Christians. It is a church that is recovering from several problems in the past. He loves being their pastor, but it does stretch him thin.
"Being a home missionary is different from going to a foreign country, I suppose, in that many of the things we do seem quite ordinary. Still, encouraging and ministering to others is as great a joy and it is a blessing and honor to be used by God in this way."

We have been having a lot of family struggles with health issues for the past few months. Dan is still recovering from a bad bout of some sort of virus that triggered asthmatic spasms and bronchial problems. I, Joan, am about to have extensive surgery on my lumbar back area this Friday at UCSF with a neurosurgeon. We would very much appreciate your prayers.
