Dear Praying Friends,
Wow! It has been a month and a half since we have updated you. Let me apologize for that. Things continue to slow since it is the summer break. I have been able to keep up my Bible study with the Africans. Basically it is just the one fellow but sometimes there are one or two more. What a delight to teach someone who is so open and desiring to know the Lord better. I have started another Bible study with an American fellow. I have been trying to find friendship families for the internationals who will be arriving in 2 weeks but have not been having success. I am also preparing my Bible studies for the fall semester. I plan on teaching the Africans the book of Romans. One thing Lori and I definitely notice is that we do not have the energy we had a few years ago.
Lori is continuing to counsel people. She has also helped one doctoral student with her dissertation. The one Moroccan student finished her studies and left. We attended her wedding reception which was a joyous event. Lori misses her as she was a truly delightful person to be with. They had great conversations about Christianity. Last night we had 4 students over for dinner. (This is a regular event). Two of them are Muslim. We were able to share a little of what Christians believe.
One thing Lori and I both enjoy is our time when we are communicating with our friends overseas. One of the church leaders in Slovenia recently requested some books which I was able to find and send to him. That is a ministry I keep up to help the church out.
We had David’s, our son, two younger children (14, 16 years old) with us for two weeks. They wanted work so I obliged them by having them paint the inside of the garage. They were a special blessing with great attitudes. We also went to a family reunion in Colorado over the Fourth of July weekend. I never realized that I have so many relatives on my mother’s side of the family. There were over 60 people there. None of our kids or grandchildren could make it and they have no idea of their relatives. Such is the life of missionary families so often.
Next Wednesday we will drive to San Diego to visit David and family as we have not yet seen all of them since they returned to the States. We will return home Monday the 11th. The 14th is the international student orientation which we will attend to make contact with the new students. I speak at church the 17th.
We do thank you for all your prayers and support. We appreciate your prayers for energy and also wisdom as we seek to develop this ministry.
Your Fellow Pilgrims,
Wes & Lori
