Daily Word of Encouragement 10.6.25 - Tina Dow

Creation & Foundations - Genesis 3:8-13 - October 6, 2025

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.    But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” Genesis 3:8-10 

 Sin breaks our relationship with God, bringing with it fear and shame. We see this at the very beginning of creation when Adam and Eve first sinned. 

 They used to enjoy a perfect relationship and fellowship with God, and then, immediately following their choice to sin, they felt afraid and hid from Him. How often do you and I do the same thing? It’s ironic because, logically, we know God already knows everything, so I’m not sure why we think hiding from Him is possible. However, it seems to be our human nature to feel afraid, hide, and then blame anything other than ourselves for why the sin happened.

 I love how God knows this about us and loves us anyway. We see from the verse that God came looking for the man and called to him, “Where are you?” God didn’t ask this because He was unaware of their location. He asked this to give them a chance to explain and mend the relationship. God does the same for us today. When we sin, it breaks our relationship and fellowship with God, but He is always there, waiting for us to turn back to Him and repent so that He can restore us. I think that when we sin, we often forget that God already knows what happened and still loves us anyway.

 One of the most impactful truths I have learned in my life is that God is not constantly disappointed in me when I fail. He already knows all the stupid stuff I’m going to do in my life, and He loves me anyway! So much so that He sent Jesus to die on the cross for my sins.

 Romans 5:8 tells us that WHILE we were still sinners, Christ died for us. I think we get it backwards in our minds, where we believe we have to stop sinning first, and then God will love us. But this is the exact opposite of what the Bible tells us. Just like God called to Adam and Eve in the garden after they sinned, He calls to each one of us to let us know that He wants to restore us.

 Will you answer His call by turning to Him today? Thanking him for loving you so much that He willingly sent His son to the cross to die for your sins? 

 God is lovingly calling us back to him to fix what is broken. Sin only brings shame and fear, and that is not the life God wants for us to have. Let’s not wait any longer to turn back to Him. Just like God asked Adam, He asks us as well, “Where are you?” Take some time to really think about that question today and respond to His call.

 «Entonces el hombre y su mujer oyeron la voz de Jehová Dios que se paseaba por el jardín al fresco del día, y se escondieron de Jehová Dios entre los árboles del jardín. Pero Jehová Dios llamó al hombre y le dijo: «¿Dónde estás?» Él respondió: «Te oí en el jardín y tuve miedo porque estaba desnudo, así que me escondí». Génesis 3:8-10

 El pecado rompe nuestra relación con Dios y trae consigo miedo y vergüenza. Vemos esto al principio mismo de la creación, cuando Adán y Eva pecaron por primera vez.

Solían disfrutar de una relación y una comunión perfectas con Dios, pero inmediatamente después de decidir pecar, sintieron miedo y se escondieron de Él. ¿Cuántas veces hacemos lo mismo? Es irónico porque, lógicamente, sabemos que Dios ya lo sabe todo, así que no entiendo por qué pensamos que es posible escondernos de Él. Sin embargo, parece ser parte de nuestra naturaleza humana sentir miedo, escondernos y luego culpar a cualquier otra cosa que no seamos nosotros mismos por el pecado cometido.

 Me encanta que Dios sepa esto de nosotros y nos ame de todos modos. Vemos en el versículo que Dios fue a buscar al hombre y le llamó: «¿Dónde estás?». Dios no le preguntó esto porque no supiera dónde estaban. Se lo preguntó para darles la oportunidad de explicarse y reparar la relación. Dios hace lo mismo con nosotros hoy en día. Cuando pecamos, rompemos nuestra relación y comunión con Dios, pero Él siempre está ahí, esperando a que volvamos a Él y nos arrepintamos para poder restaurarnos. Creo que cuando pecamos, a menudo olvidamos que Dios ya sabe lo que ha pasado y que, aun así, nos sigue amando.

 Una de las verdades más impactantes que he aprendido en mi vida es que Dios no se decepciona constantemente de mí cuando fallo. Él ya sabe todas las tonterías que voy a hacer en mi vida, ¡y aun así me ama! Tanto es así que envió a Jesús a morir en la cruz por mis pecados.

 Romanos 5:8 nos dice que, MIENTRAS aún éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros. Creo que lo entendemos al revés en nuestra mente, donde creemos que primero tenemos que dejar de pecar y entonces Dios nos amará. Pero esto es exactamente lo contrario de lo que nos dice la Biblia. Al igual que Dios llamó a Adán y Eva en el jardín después de que pecaran, Él nos llama a cada uno de nosotros para hacernos saber que quiere restaurarnos.

 ¿Responderás a su llamada volviéndote hacia Él hoy? ¿Agradeciéndole por amarte tanto que envió voluntariamente a su hijo a la cruz para morir por tus pecados?

 Dios nos llama con amor para que volvamos a Él y repare lo que está roto. El pecado solo trae vergüenza y miedo, y esa no es la vida que Dios quiere para nosotros. No esperemos más para volver a Él. Al igual que Dios le preguntó a Adán, también nos pregunta a nosotros: «¿Dónde estás?». Tómate un tiempo para pensar realmente en esa pregunta hoy y responde a Su llamada.
