Bible Prophecy - Matthew 24:1-14 - November 13, 2025

Our modern and scientific world has given us warnings. Don't smoke or you will probably get cancer; don't eat mystery mushrooms or you might die; wear a helmet with the chin strap attached when riding a bike or a horse; don't casually walk through poison oak or alligator-infested waters. These warnings are not misleading. Yet many humans feel immune to the potential consequences. I guess they believe they are smarter or better.

 The word "mislead," in my vocabulary, means to fudge on the truth intentionally, not to tell the truth, to lie. Since Jesus is without sin, he will not "mislead" when he speaks or when he answers a question. We are often misled by semi-truths and clever liars. Jesus, when answering a question, lying —let's say —is out of the question.

 The disciples ask Jesus, "What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?" Jesus answers, "Don't let anyone mislead you…" that is, lie to you. This is Jesus' warning. It does not take Jesus by surprise that Christians are susceptible to being misled (wooed) by strange, semi-truthful doctrine. The semi-truth is usually more appealing than the full, often harsh truth. A semi-truth is usually intended to deceive. Be aware: it isn't semi-true unless it is also semi-false. Truth is always accompanied by its opposite in these latter days. The enemy's intention is to deceive the believer.

 These days, we are all vulnerable to getting duped by semi-true statements. The definition of semi-true must include semi-false. Since a semi-truth is always accompanied by semi-falsehood, which half do we select to believe? We tend to select the one that "fits us" better. However, God's Word gives us the complete truth, no semi-anything. Our choice should be God's whole truth -His warnings as well as his commands.

 Jesus continues his warnings, "others will come to deceive many….but don't panic. These things must take place….this is only the first of the birth pangs". He says there will be persecution, and hatred, and martyrdom because you believe in me. There will be people claiming to be the returned Messiah, even with signs and wonders to deceive. The love of many will become cold.

 All this that even the elect (believers) will be deceived by false prophets. There will be greater anguish than ever since the world began. If anyone tells you, "Look here is the Messiah" don't believe it".. "See I have warned you about this ahead of time.". Yet, Jesus says that the ones who endure to the end will be saved. The time of calamity will be shortened, not a single person will survive. It will be shortened for the sake of God's chosen ones. "

 He does want us to keep trusting and knowing. We learn the truth by reading His Word every day, and reading it the next day, and the next….

 Nuestro mundo moderno y científico nos ha dado advertencias. No fumes o probablemente tendrás cáncer; no comas setas desconocidas o podrías morir; usa un casco con la correa de la barbilla abrochada cuando montes en bicicleta o a caballo; no camines despreocupadamente por zonas con roble venenoso o aguas infestadas de caimanes. Estas advertencias no son engañosas. Sin embargo, muchos seres humanos se sienten inmunes a las posibles consecuencias. Supongo que creen que son más inteligentes o mejores.

 La palabra «engañar», en mi vocabulario, significa falsear la verdad intencionadamente, no decir la verdad, mentir. Como Jesús no tiene pecado, no «engañará» cuando hable o cuando responda a una pregunta. A menudo nos engañan las medias verdades y los mentirosos astutos. Cuando Jesús responde a una pregunta, mentir —digamos— está fuera de lugar.

 Los discípulos le preguntan a Jesús: «¿Qué señal indicará tu regreso y el fin del mundo?». Jesús responde: «No dejéis que nadie os engañe...», es decir, que os mienta. Esta es la advertencia de Jesús. A Jesús no le sorprende que los cristianos sean susceptibles de ser engañados (seducidos) por doctrinas extrañas y semiverdaderas. La semiverdad suele ser más atractiva que la verdad completa, a menudo dura. Una semiverdad suele tener la intención de engañar. Tened en cuenta que no es semiverdad a menos que sea también semifalsa. La verdad siempre va acompañada de su contrario en estos últimos días. La intención del enemigo es engañar al creyente.

 Hoy en día, todos somos vulnerables a ser engañados por afirmaciones semiverdaderas. La definición de semiverdad debe incluir semifalsedad. Dado que una semiverdad siempre va acompañada de una semifalsedad, ¿qué mitad elegimos creer? Tendemos a elegir la que «nos conviene» más. Sin embargo, la Palabra de Dios nos da la verdad completa, sin semis nada. Nuestra elección debe ser toda la verdad de Dios, tanto sus advertencias como sus mandamientos.

 Jesús continúa con sus advertencias: «Otros vendrán para engañar a muchos... pero no se asusten. Estas cosas deben suceder... esto es solo el comienzo de los dolores de parto». Él dice que habrá persecución, odio y martirio porque creemos en él. Habrá personas que afirmarán ser el Mesías regresado, incluso con señales y prodigios para engañar. El amor de muchos se enfriará.

 Todo esto, que incluso los elegidos (los creyentes) serán engañados por falsos profetas. Habrá una angustia mayor que nunca desde que el mundo comenzó. Si alguien os dice: «Mirad, aquí está el Mesías», no lo creáis... «Mirad, os lo he advertido de antemano». Sin embargo, Jesús dice que los que perseveren hasta el final serán salvos. El tiempo de la calamidad se acortará, ni una sola persona sobrevivirá. Se acortará por el bien de los elegidos de Dios. «

 Él quiere que sigamos confiando y conociendo. Aprendemos la verdad leyendo Su Palabra todos los días, y leyéndola al día siguiente, y al siguiente...
