Bible Prophecy - Revelation 19 - November 27, 2025

Revelation 19:20 "And the beast was seized and with him the false prophet, who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast, and those who worshiped his image:  these two were thrown alive into the Lake of Fire which burns with brimstone."

 As you start reading this devotion, it may appear to be spiritually dark and inappropriate for the Thanksgiving season.  But if you stay with it until the end, you will see that it has an uplifting conclusion.  Most Christians believe that hell exists, but they don't all view it the same.  Here are three of the main views:  #1 Hell is torment because those there will be in total darkness, separated from God.  #2 Those who did not trust Jesus as their Savior will be thrown alive into a literal Lake of Fire, but they will immediately be annihilated.  #3 Hell is what is described in Revelation 20:10 and 15; people who will experience physical torment in a literal fire because their names were not found written in the "Lamb's Book of Life."  

 Here are some other New Testament descriptions of hell:

  * "Everlasting fire"                              * "Where the worm does not burn"

 * "Fire and brimstone"                        * "Bottomless pit"

 * "Where the fire is not quenched"     * "Weeping and gnashing of teeth"

 Revelation 20:10 disproves the annihilation theory.  This verse is describing an event that occurs 1,000 years after the antichrist and the false prophet are thrown into the Lake of fire, yet it states that they are still alive.

 In contrast to the stark reality of being in torment forever and ever, there is the blessed reality of what God has prepared for those of us who have trusted Jesus as our Savior.  In John 14:1-3, we learn that Jesus has already prepared a dwelling place (mansion KJV) for us.  Although we will have access to all of heaven, our home base will be the fabulous city, the New Jerusalem.

 Just imagine you're leaving this life and immediately being greeted by God as you walk through the door of heaven with these words: "I will wipe away every tear from your eyes, you shall no longer experience any death, or mourning, or crying, or pain; all these things will have passed away!!!"  Revelation 21:4.

 Here are three suggested responses to the truths from this devotion.  

 First, if you are a Christian, you should be so thankful to God for creating this fabulous eternity that you start  jumping up and down and singing the "Hallelujah Chorus."  Second, the stark reality of hell should inspire you to be more evangelistic and to be praying fervently that your unsaved family and friends would come to salvation.  Third, if you are not a Christian, hopefully the biblical truths you just read will lead you to repent of your sins and accept the free gift of salvation offered to you through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  If you trust Jesus as your Savior, you will join the family of God and have a secure eternity with your Savior forever.

 Apocalipsis 19:20 «Y la bestia fue apresada, y con ella el falso profeta, que había hecho las señales delante de ella, con las cuales había engañado a los que habían recibido la marca de la bestia y a los que adoraban su imagen;  y estos dos fueron lanzados vivos al lago de fuego que arde con azufre».

 Al comenzar a leer esta devoción, puede parecer espiritualmente oscura e inapropiada para la temporada de Acción de Gracias. Pero si la lees hasta el final, verás que tiene una conclusión edificante. La mayoría de los cristianos creen que el infierno existe, pero no todos lo ven de la misma manera. Aquí hay tres de las principales opiniones: #1 El infierno es un tormento porque los que están allí estarán en total oscuridad, separados de Dios.  #2 Aquellos que no confiaron en Jesús como su Salvador serán arrojados vivos a un lago de fuego literal, pero serán aniquilados inmediatamente.  #3 El infierno es lo que se describe en Apocalipsis 20:10 y 15; personas que experimentarán tormento físico en un fuego literal porque sus nombres no fueron encontrados escritos en el «Libro de la Vida del Cordero».  

 Aquí hay otras descripciones del infierno en el Nuevo Testamento:

 * «Fuego eterno» * «Donde el gusano no se quema»

* «Fuego y azufre» * «Pozo sin fondo»

* «Donde el fuego no se apaga» * «Llanto y crujir de dientes»

 Apocalipsis 20:10 refuta la teoría de la aniquilación. Este versículo describe un acontecimiento que ocurre mil años después de que el anticristo y el falso profeta sean arrojados al lago de fuego, pero afirma que siguen vivos.

 En contraste con la cruda realidad de estar en tormento por los siglos de los siglos, existe la bendita realidad de lo que Dios ha preparado para aquellos de nosotros que hemos confiado en Jesús como nuestro Salvador. En Juan 14:1-3, aprendemos que Jesús ya ha preparado una morada (mansión KJV) para nosotros. Aunque tendremos acceso a todo el cielo, nuestra base será la fabulosa ciudad, la Nueva Jerusalén.

Imagina que dejas esta vida y, al cruzar la puerta del cielo, Dios te recibe inmediatamente con estas palabras: «Enjugaré toda lágrima de tus ojos, y ya no habrá muerte, ni llanto, ni lamento ni dolor, porque las primeras cosas han pasado» (Apocalipsis 21:4).

 Aquí hay tres respuestas sugeridas a las verdades de esta devoción.

 Primero, si eres cristiano, deberías estar tan agradecido a Dios por crear esta fabulosa eternidad que empezarías a  saltar y cantar el «Coro Aleluya».  Segundo, la cruda realidad del infierno debería inspirarte a ser más evangelizador y a orar fervientemente para que tus familiares y amigos no salvos alcancen la salvación.  En tercer lugar, si no eres cristiano, esperamos que las verdades bíblicas que acabas de leer te lleven a arrepentirte de tus pecados y a aceptar el regalo gratuito de la salvación que se te ofrece a través de la sangre derramada de Jesucristo. Si confías en Jesús como tu Salvador, te unirás a la familia de Dios y tendrás una eternidad segura con tu Salvador para siempre.
