Bible Prophecy - Isaiah 7:10-14 - November 7, 2025

Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz: "Ask a sign of the Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven." But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test." And he said, "Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:10-14)

 My 4-year-old son is wildly independent and eternally optimistic.  He believes that he can do anything he sets his mind to, on his own, of course.  In his mind, he never needs his father's help.  Recently, he was trying to open a box that was heavily taped, and I offered my assistance.  He declined and struggled on without me.  He went and got his scissors and didn't heed my safety warnings.  Tears ensued. 

 We so often decline our Heavenly Father, who is looking out for us.  We are content to struggle on our own.  Nevertheless, He is faithful to us.

 These verses are so rich with foundational truth—not only providing a direct prophecy about the Messiah but also giving us comfort.  Do you need comfort in your struggle today?  The words of God tell you two things that you can hold fast to: that the Messiah is  Emmanuel, "God With Us".  Not just "God on the throne" or "God the redeemer" or "God the all-knowing", but "God with us".  In the hospital, the workplace, and the home - wherever the difficulty is, He is with us.  Secondly, we can be comforted that even when we do the wrong thing—like Ahaz not trusting God and seeking earthly help—God is still at work.  He fulfills his promises even when his people falter.  As we move towards the Advent season, when we remember and celebrate the coming of the Messiah, may we be comforted by God with us, and look forward to His future return. Prophecy in scripture points us back to Jesus!

 Lord, I am thankful that you are a personal God - that you are all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-sufficient, but that you know, love, and care for me.  I am humbled by your faithfulness to me.  Draw me closer to yourself.  Amen.

 El Señor habló de nuevo con Acaz: «Pide una señal al Señor tu Dios; que sea tan profunda como el Seol o tan alta como el cielo». Pero Acaz respondió: «No la pediré, ni pondré a prueba al Señor». Y dijo: «¡Escuchen, casa de David! ¿Les parece poco cansar a los hombres, que también cansan a mi Dios? Por tanto, el Señor mismo les dará una señal: La virgen concebirá y dará a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emanuel». (Isaías 7:10-14)

 Mi hijo de cuatro años es muy independiente y eternamente optimista. Cree que puede lograr todo lo que se propone, por supuesto, él solito. En su mente, nunca necesita la ayuda de su padre. Hace poco, intentaba abrir una caja muy sellada con cinta adhesiva, y le ofrecí mi ayuda. La rechazó y siguió intentándolo sin mí. Fue a buscar sus tijeras e ignoró mis advertencias. Se puso a llorar.

 Con frecuencia rechazamos a nuestro Padre Celestial, quien vela por nosotros. Nos conformamos. Luchar solos. Sin embargo, Él es fiel a nosotros.

 Estos versículos están repletos de verdad fundamental: no solo nos brindan una profecía directa sobre el Mesías, sino que también nos consuelan. ¿Necesitas consuelo en tu lucha de hoy? La palabra de Dios te dice dos cosas a las que puedes aferrarte: que el Mesías es Emmanuel, «Dios con nosotros». No solo «Dios en el trono», ni «Dios redentor», ni «Dios omnisciente», sino «Dios con nosotros». En el hospital, en el trabajo y en el hogar, dondequiera que esté la dificultad, Él está con nosotros. En segundo lugar, podemos consolarnos sabiendo que incluso cuando hacemos lo incorrecto —como Acaz, que no confió en Dios y buscó ayuda terrenal— Dios sigue obrando. Él cumple sus promesas incluso cuando su pueblo flaquea. Al acercarnos al Adviento, cuando recordamos y celebramos la venida del Mesías, que Dios nos consuele y que esperemos con ilusión su venida. Regreso futuro. ¡La profecía en las Escrituras nos señala a Jesús!

 Señor, te agradezco que seas un Dios personal: todopoderoso, omnisciente y autosuficiente, pero también que me conozcas, me ames y me cuides. Me conmueve tu fidelidad. Acércame más a ti. Amén.
