Connect with God - Hebrews 4:12 - January 2, 2026

"For the Word of God (the bible) is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of the soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and emotions of the heart" Hebrews 4:12

 If you asked a cross section of unbelievers to describe the bible, you would probably hear some of the following: "A book about the history of the Jewish nation"/"A book with some poetry"/"A book about the life of Jesus"/"A book that sets a very high standard for moral living"/"A book of fables"  To Christians the bible is far more than just another book.  Although it was written by 39 or 40 authors, it is one book that, as Hebrews 4:12 says, is "Living and active, and sharper than any two edged sword".  Here are some other verses where the bible describes itself.

 * 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is inspired by God." (God breathed)

* Proverbs 30:5 "Every word of God is pure."

* Psalm 119:105 "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

* John 17:17 Jesus said, "Thy Word is truth."

* 1 Thessalonians 2:13 "God's Word is not the word of men, but of God."

* Matthew 5:18 It is accurate, including every jot and tittle (smallest Hebrew markings and letters)

 So why don't unbelievers see these truths?  1 Corinthians tells us why.  "A natural man (unbeliever) does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they seem foolish to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned."

 Unless God opens his spiritual eyes and ears as he reads or hears God's Word, what he reads or hears will seem like a foreign language to him.  But that being said, because God's Word is sharper than any two-edged sword, it can be used by God to cut through the unbelievers' spiritual confusion and draw them to salvation: Romans 10:17 is true. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." So if you have unbelieving relatives and or friends, never give up trying to expose them to God's Word, and keep praying for their salvation. 

 For we who are Christians, God's Word is our lifeline to God, and the instrument with which God the Holy Spirit guides and directs our lives. PRAISE THE LORD!!!

 «Porque la palabra de Dios (la Biblia) es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos; penetra hasta la división del alma y el espíritu, de las articulaciones y los tuétanos, y es capaz de juzgar los pensamientos y las emociones del corazón». Hebreos 4:12

 Si le pidieras a un grupo representativo de no creyentes que describieran la Biblia, probablemente escucharías algo como lo siguiente: «Un libro sobre la historia de la nación judía» / «Un libro con algo de poesía» / «Un libro sobre la vida de Jesús» / «Un libro que establece un estándar muy alto para la vida moral» / «Un libro de fábulas». Para los cristianos, la Biblia es mucho más que un simple libro.  Aunque fue escrita por 39 o 40 autores, es un libro que, como dice Hebreos 4:12, es «vivo y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos».  Aquí hay algunos otros versículos en los que la Biblia se describe a sí misma.

 * 2 Timoteo 3:16 «Toda la Escritura es inspirada por Dios» (soplada por Dios).

* Proverbios 30:5 «Toda palabra de Dios es pura».

* Salmo 119:105 «Tu palabra es lámpara para mis pies y luz para mi camino».

* Juan 17:17 Jesús dijo: «Tu palabra es verdad».

* 1 Tesalonicenses 2:13 «La palabra de Dios no es palabra de hombres, sino de Dios».

* Mateo 5:18 Es precisa, incluyendo cada jota y cada tilde (las marcas y letras hebreas más pequeñas).

 Entonces, ¿por qué los incrédulos no ven estas verdades?  1 Corintios nos dice por qué.  «El hombre natural (incrédulo) no acepta las cosas del Espíritu de Dios, porque le parecen locura, y no las puede entender, porque se disciernen espiritualmente».

 A menos que Dios le abra los ojos y los oídos espirituales mientras lee o escucha la Palabra de Dios, lo que lee o escucha le parecerá un idioma extranjero. Pero dicho esto, como la Palabra de Dios es más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos, Dios puede usarla para cortar la confusión espiritual de los incrédulos y atraerlos a la salvación: Romanos 10:17 es cierto. «La fe viene por el oír, y el oír por la Palabra de Dios». Así que, si tienes familiares o amigos incrédulos, nunca dejes de intentar exponerlos a la Palabra de Dios y sigue orando por su salvación. 

 Para nosotros, los cristianos, la Palabra de Dios es nuestro salvavidas hacia Dios y el instrumento con el que Dios Espíritu Santo guía y dirige nuestras vidas. ¡ALABADO SEA EL SEÑOR!
