Advent | The Coming Savior - Hebrews 1:1-4 - December 28, 2025

Hebrews 1:1-4 - Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days He has spoken to us through His Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son He created the universe. The Son radiates God's own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. When He had cleansed us from our sins He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. This shows that the Son is far greater than the angels just as the name God gave Him is greater than their names. 

 Christmas is such a wonderful season; there is so much to remind us of Jesus. 

 I love how God spoke to the world so tirelessly in ages past, and continues to speak in our world today. Think about how He speaks to us from the manger. The God who created the world was willing to humble Himself and be born as a tiny infant, vulnerable, helpless, completely at the mercy of others for food, diaper changes, and love. 

 He speaks to us from the tree. Have you ever noticed how pine trees have a cross at the top? The instrument of his death, the launching pad of his resurrection! Where "He made purification of sins"- He provided the sacrifice that allows us to draw near to God. (Isaiah 53)

 He speaks to us in the gifts. The enormous generosity of God's gift to us is reflected as we give gifts to one another. (Nehemiah 8:10, Eph. 1:3-10)

 He speaks to us through the angel at the top of the tree, who reminds us that the angels sang at creation, at His birth, and around His throne. These angels who have served God so uncompromisingly through the ages watch us. (Mt. 18:10; Heb. 1; 1 Peter 1:12)

 He speaks to us through the lights on our trees and streets, lit up so beautifully. Reminding us that He is the light of the world, and one day we will see that heavenly City with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God. (Hebrews 11:9.)

 Our families and traditions may imperfectly reflect our wonderful Savior. Still, I think if you will pause for just a minute in this busy season, look around and listen, you will see many things that point to His love, His grace, His Mercy, and His desire to know us and be known.

 Jesus came as a baby to fulfill the work of salvation for us. That work was finished, and He sat down at the right hand of God. But one day He will arise! Just as the first Advent was fulfilled, so will the second Advent be fulfilled. So live in Hope. "Lift up your eyes and see who has created these stars!" Allow your life to reflect the love and hope that Christmas symbolizes year-round.

 Hebreos 1:1-4 - Hace mucho tiempo, Dios habló muchas veces y de muchas maneras a nuestros antepasados por medio de los profetas. Y ahora, en estos últimos días, nos ha hablado por medio de su Hijo. Dios prometió todo al Hijo como herencia, y por medio del Hijo creó el universo. El Hijo irradia la gloria de Dios y expresa el carácter mismo de Dios, y sostiene todo con el poder de su mandato. Cuando nos limpió de nuestros pecados, se sentó en el lugar de honor a la derecha del majestuoso Dios en el cielo. Esto muestra que el Hijo es mucho mayor que los ángeles, así como el nombre que Dios le dio es mayor que los nombres de ellos.

La Navidad es una época maravillosa; hay tantas cosas que nos recuerdan a Jesús.

Me encanta cómo Dios habló al mundo incansablemente en épocas pasadas y sigue hablando en nuestro mundo hoy en día. Piensa en cómo nos habla desde el pesebre. El Dios que creó el mundo estuvo dispuesto a humillarse y nacer como un pequeño bebé, vulnerable, indefenso, completamente a merced de otros para alimentarse, cambiarle los pañales y darle amor.

Nos habla desde el árbol. ¿Alguna vez has notado cómo los pinos tienen una cruz en la copa? ¡El instrumento de su muerte, la plataforma de lanzamiento de su resurrección! Donde «Él purificó los pecados», proporcionó el sacrificio que nos permite acercarnos a Dios. (Isaías 53)

 Nos habla en los regalos. La enorme generosidad del regalo de Dios para nosotros se refleja cuando nos hacemos regalos unos a otros. (Nehemías 8:10, Efesios 1:3-10)

Él nos habla a través del ángel en la copa del árbol, que nos recuerda que los ángeles cantaron en la creación, en su nacimiento y alrededor de su trono. Estos ángeles que han servido a Dios sin concesiones a lo largo de los siglos nos observan. (Mateo 18:10; Hebreos 1; 1 Pedro 1:12)

 Él nos habla a través de las luces de nuestros árboles y calles, iluminadas de manera tan hermosa. Nos recuerda que Él es la luz del mundo y que un día veremos esa ciudad celestial con cimientos eternos, una ciudad diseñada y construida por Dios. (Hebreos 11:9).

 Puede que nuestras familias y tradiciones no reflejen perfectamente a nuestro maravilloso Salvador. Sin embargo, creo que si te detienes un momento en esta temporada tan ajetreada, miras a tu alrededor y escuchas, verás muchas cosas que apuntan a su amor, su gracia, su misericordia y su deseo de conocernos y ser conocido.

 Jesús vino como un bebé para cumplir la obra de salvación por nosotros. Esa obra se completó y Él se sentó a la derecha de Dios. ¡Pero algún día resucitará! Así como se cumplió la primera venida, también se cumplirá la segunda venida. Así que vive con esperanza. «¡Levanta tus ojos y mira quién ha creado estas estrellas!». Deja que tu vida refleje el amor y la esperanza que simboliza la Navidad durante todo el año.
