The Book of Proverbs -Proverbs 23 - February 23, 2026

In our young adults group, we just finished our series going over Wisdom for a Lifetime by looking at the book of Proverbs. I am so grateful for this topic because it feels like God keeps bringing it back into my life, especially over the past few months. God has been deepening my understanding — not just of what wisdom is, but of how I actually live it out.

In one week of our series, Joe said, "Wisdom isn't just known, it is learned, internalized, and lived out." Wisdom requires our head, heart, and hands. Wisdom goes beyond just knowing; it shapes the way we live. Proverbs 23:12 reminded me about what this looks like: "Apply your heart to instruction and your ear to words of knowledge." Wisdom isn't something we passively receive. It requires intention, willingness, and a heart ready to follow. If we want to have wisdom and live it out for God, we must obey and surrender. We need to obey His instructions, commit to living for God and His will for our lives, despite the messy, busyness, or hardships in our lives. And with our obedience, we need to surrender our control and submit to His outcome.

I naturally like having control, but if we hold onto the control (that we love to have), we can miss out on the opportunity to rely, trust, and lean on our Heavenly Father. We cannot rely, trust, or lean on God when we are the ones trying to control our lives.
When we posture ourselves with an attitude of surrender, submission, and trust, we begin to better recognize His voice and more clearly apply our ear to knowledge. With this posture, I know that I become more aware of how God is leading and teaching me, and my heart is more ready to follow His direction.

When we live this way, wisdom takes root. God wants us to have wisdom. He invites us to seek for it. Later in Proverbs 23:26, it says, "My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways." God wants our hearts. He wants us to surrender and trust in His ways. He desires for us to have wisdom and continue to grow deeper in Him.

Dear God, help us give You our heart fully. Let our eyes delight in Your ways, to see Your glory and power at work. Have our gaze transfixed on You and what You desire for our lives, Lord. Teach us to listen closely to Your voice, and allow wisdom to take root in us. For us to learn, internalize, and live out wisdom. Ready our hearts, surrendering, submitting, and trusting you in our lives. Amen.

En nuestro grupo de jóvenes adultos, acabamos de terminar nuestra serie sobre Sabiduría para toda la vida, analizando el libro de Proverbios. Estoy muy agradecida por este tema, porque siento que Dios lo sigue trayendo a mi vida, especialmente en los últimos meses. Dios ha estado profundizando mi comprensión, no solo de lo que es la sabiduría, sino de cómo la vivo en realidad.

En una semana de nuestra serie, Joe dijo: «La sabiduría no solo se conoce, se aprende, se interioriza y se vive». La sabiduría requiere nuestra cabeza, nuestro corazón y nuestras manos. La sabiduría va más allá del simple conocimiento; da forma a nuestra manera de vivir. Proverbios 23:12 me recordó cómo es esto: «Aplica tu corazón a la instrucción y tu oído a las palabras del conocimiento». La sabiduría no es algo que recibimos pasivamente. Requiere intención, voluntad y un corazón dispuesto a seguirla. Si queremos tener sabiduría y vivirla para Dios, debemos obedecer y rendirnos. Necesitamos obedecer Sus instrucciones, comprometernos a vivir para Dios y Su voluntad para nuestras vidas, a pesar del desorden, el ajetreo o las dificultades de nuestras vidas. Y con nuestra obediencia, necesitamos rendir nuestro control y someternos a Su resultado.

Naturalmente, me gusta tener el control, pero si nos aferramos al control (que nos encanta tener), podemos perder la oportunidad de confiar, creer y apoyarnos en nuestro Padre Celestial. No podemos confiar, creer o apoyarnos en Dios cuando somos nosotros los que intentamos controlar nuestras vidas.

Cuando adoptamos una actitud de rendición, sumisión y confianza, comenzamos a reconocer mejor Su voz y a prestar más atención al conocimiento. Con esta actitud, sé que me vuelvo más consciente de cómo Dios me guía y me enseña, y mi corazón está más dispuesto a seguir Su dirección.

Cuando vivimos de esta manera, la sabiduría echa raíces. Dios quiere que tengamos sabiduría. Nos invita a buscarla. Más adelante, en Proverbios 23:26, dice: «Hijo mío, dame tu corazón y deleita tus ojos en mis caminos». Dios quiere nuestros corazones. Quiere que nos rindamos y confiemos en Sus caminos. Desea que tengamos sabiduría y sigamos creciendo más profundamente en Él.

Querido Dios, ayúdanos a entregarte nuestro corazón por completo. Que nuestros ojos se deleiten en tus caminos, para ver tu gloria y tu poder en acción. Mantén nuestra mirada fija en ti y en lo que deseas para nuestras vidas, Señor. Enséñanos a escuchar atentamente tu voz y permite que la sabiduría eche raíces en nosotros. Para que aprendamos, interioricemos y vivamos la sabiduría. Prepara nuestros corazones para rendirnos, someternos y confiar en ti en nuestras vidas. Amén.
