Personal Testimonies - March 27, 2026
My life verse is Psalm 71:5
For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth.
It has been my privilege to have been raised in a Christian home and to attend Hessel Church for most of my life. I can see how the Lord provided and protected my family and me through the potholes of life. God has always protected us and provided opportunities to serve.
I accepted Christ in Junior Church in the 60s and grew up with consistent Bible teaching throughout my life. I was not very involved in serving until one Sunday in the early 80’s when a pastor tapped me on the shoulder and said he had a job for me. He sat me down at the soundboard in what is now Cundall Hall. I learned the job and served there for more than 25 years. I found that encouragement was the ministry for which I had been gifted, and I used it.
When I married my wife, Maria, in 1995, additional opportunities were opened to me. I was asked to join the Trustees, a commitment that I still serve.
As my father aged, I provided him with transportation and became involved with the Keenagers. The existing support committee was moving on, so Maria and I took over this ministry. We retired from this ministry in 2025 after 10 years of service and are still supporting the seniors at Hessel.
In 2012, I was laid off, and the Lord provided the finances to allow me to retire. This provided additional time for me to serve. There was a need, and I became the Financial Secretary for Hessel. Processing offerings every week and supporting Hessel members with their offerings. I also started taking my father to the Keenager Bible Study. Subsequently, the group lost its teacher and was going to disband. Since I saw the need, I asked if they would mind if I took over as their teacher. I taught this group for 7 years.
Hessel then needed a Treasurer, so I accepted this position. There were numerous opportunities to support the staff and members of Hessel. Ben Steele took over this position. Other than this, the Lord has protected my family through life events.
Maria and I were able to step in and care for my nephew and niece in 2001 when my brother died in an accident.
The loss of both my mother-in-law and mother in the course of 2 months.
Maria and I survived a 2007 car crash that could have killed both of us.
The Lord gave me calm when I was in the hospital with 5 blood clots in my lungs. Based upon what the doctors said, I should have been panicking.
My witness is that the Lord is what you need. He will support and love you in ways that will surprise you. And give you opportunities to help others that you could never imagine yourself doing.

Mi versículo favorito es el Salmo 71:5
Porque tú eres mi esperanza, oh Señor Dios; tú eres mi confianza desde mi juventud.
He tenido el privilegio de crecer en un hogar cristiano y de asistir a la Iglesia de Hessel durante la mayor parte de mi vida. Puedo ver cómo el Señor nos ha provisto y protegido a mi familia y a mí a lo largo de los baches de la vida. Dios siempre nos ha protegido y nos ha brindado oportunidades para servir.
Acepté a Cristo en la Iglesia Juvenil en los años 60 y crecí con una enseñanza bíblica constante a lo largo de mi vida. No estaba muy involucrado en el servicio hasta que un domingo a principios de los 80 un pastor me dio una palmada en el hombro y me dijo que tenía un trabajo para mí. Me sentó frente a la mesa de sonido en lo que hoy es el Cundall Hall. Aprendí el trabajo y presté servicio allí durante más de 25 años. Descubrí que el ánimo era el ministerio para el que había sido dotado, y lo utilicé.
Cuando me casé con mi esposa, María, en 1995, se me abrieron nuevas oportunidades. Me pidieron que me uniera al Consejo de Administración, un compromiso con el que sigo colaborando.
A medida que mi padre envejecía, le proporcionaba transporte y me involucré con los Keenagers. El comité de apoyo existente estaba dejando el cargo, así que María y yo nos hicimos cargo de este ministerio. Nos retiramos de este ministerio en 2025 tras 10 años de servicio y seguimos apoyando a las personas mayores de Hessel.
En 2012, me despidieron y el Señor me proporcionó los medios económicos para permitirme jubilarme. Esto me proporcionó tiempo adicional para servir. Había una necesidad y me convertí en el secretario de finanzas de Hessel. Procesaba las ofrendas cada semana y apoyaba a los miembros de Hessel con sus ofrendas. También empecé a llevar a mi padre al estudio bíblico de los Keenagers. Posteriormente, el grupo perdió a su profesor y estaba a punto de disolverse. Como vi la necesidad, pregunté si les importaría que yo asumiera el papel de profesor. Enseñé a este grupo durante 7 años.
Hessel necesitaba entonces un tesorero, así que acepté este puesto. Hubo numerosas oportunidades para apoyar al personal y a los miembros de Hessel. Ben Steele asumió este cargo. Aparte de esto, el Señor ha protegido a mi familia a lo largo de los acontecimientos de la vida.
María y yo pudimos intervenir y cuidar de mi sobrino y mi sobrina en 2001, cuando mi hermano falleció en un accidente.
La pérdida tanto de mi suegra como de mi madre en el transcurso de dos meses.
María y yo sobrevivimos a un accidente de coche en 2007 que podría habernos matado a los dos.
El Señor me dio tranquilidad cuando estuve en el hospital con cinco coágulos de sangre en los pulmones. Según lo que dijeron los médicos, debería haber entrado en pánico.
Mi testimonio es que el Señor es lo que necesitas. Él te apoyará y te amará de maneras que te sorprenderán. Y te dará oportunidades para ayudar a otros que nunca hubieras imaginado que podrías hacer.
