Daily Word of Encouragement 7.28.26 - Kitty Jones

Being a Healthy Christian - 1 Peter 1:3-11 - July 28, 2026

What a wonderfully jam-packed section of Scripture we get to consider today! Just check out that first phrase, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness”. In Him we have ALL we need to enjoy life and represent Him accurately! These wonderful gifts are ours because we have been brought to know Him – our God Who “called us into His own glory and excellence”! By calling us, He grants us “precious and very great promises, so that through them (we) may become partakers of the divine nature”! He wants us to have a nature like His! Sinful nature corrupts this world, but we no longer have to submit to it because He has saved us by His death and resurrection! 

Because the above is true for you and me, we are to live virtuous lives full of faith and the knowledge of God’s Word. Our knowledge is to be tempered with self-control (because we may “know” some things that aren’t actually true). Along with self-control, we are to be faithful (steadfast) in seeking to represent God accurately, which will, of course, include brotherly affection and, deeper, genuine love. 

If we want to be effective and fruitful, the above characteristics must be apparent in our lives. If we disregard them, maybe it’s because we are nearsighted, blind, and forgetful of God’s cleansing from our sin.

You had better be sure you’ve been called and elected into salvation; the abundant presence of the above qualities, by faith, at work in you by the Holy Spirit, will confirm you are born again, and you will go to heaven when you’re done on this earth.

The Scriptures are provided for us as reminders of what we read above. We need constant reminding – so study the Scriptures consistently to be established “in the truth you have”. 

Ser un Cristiano Saludable – 1 Pedro 1:3–11 – 28 de julio de 2026

¡Qué sección de la Escritura tan maravillosamente llena de contenido tenemos para considerar hoy! Solo mira esa primera frase: “Su divino poder nos ha concedido todas las cosas que pertenecen a la vida y a la piedad”. ¡En Él tenemos TODO lo que necesitamos para disfrutar la vida y representarlo fielmente! Estos regalos maravillosos son nuestros porque hemos llegado a conocerlo a Él, nuestro Dios, quien “nos llamó por Su propia gloria y excelencia”. Al llamarnos, Él nos concede “preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por medio de ellas lleguemos a ser participantes de la naturaleza divina”. ¡Él quiere que tengamos una naturaleza como la Suya! La naturaleza pecaminosa corrompe este mundo, pero ya no tenemos que someternos a ella porque Él nos ha salvado por medio de Su muerte y resurrección.

Debido a que lo anterior es verdad para ti y para mí, debemos vivir vidas virtuosas, llenas de fe y del conocimiento de la Palabra de Dios. Nuestro conocimiento debe estar acompañado de dominio propio, porque podemos “saber” algunas cosas que en realidad no son verdad. Junto con el dominio propio, debemos ser fieles —firmes— en buscar representar a Dios con precisión, lo cual, por supuesto, incluirá afecto fraternal y, más profundamente, amor genuino.

Si queremos ser efectivos y fructíferos, las características mencionadas anteriormente deben ser evidentes en nuestra vida. Si las ignoramos, quizá sea porque somos miopes, ciegos y olvidadizos de la limpieza que Dios ha hecho de nuestro pecado.

Más vale que estés seguro de que has sido llamado y elegido para salvación. La presencia abundante de las cualidades anteriores, por fe, obrando en ti por el Espíritu Santo, confirmará que has nacido de nuevo, y entrarás al cielo cuando termines tu tiempo en esta tierra.

Las Escrituras nos son dadas como recordatorios de lo que leímos arriba. Necesitamos recordatorios constantes; por eso, estudia las Escrituras consistentemente para ser afirmado “en la verdad que tienes”.
