Praying in the Psalms - Psalm 40 - August 12, 2025 

Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. 

In the margin of my Bible, I have written, "When I settle down in peace, waiting on God's answer, He lets me know He hears my cry for help, He lifts me up above my shifting circumstances, He strengthens and stabilizes me. He puts a song in my heart that rises up in praise to my God. When people see how He treats me and hear my praise, it is my hope they respond to Him in appropriate reference and trust. 

You love me and provide redemption from condemnation. It is all too marvelous for my words. You have opened my ears to Your truth and written Your law on my heart. I respond, 'I delight to do Your will, Oh my God; Your law is within my heart' (v8). In my church family and beyond, I happily declare the good news of Christ's righteousness wrapped all around His own. I cannot be silent about this amazing truth, hiding it in my own heart. No! I must declare aloud Your trustworthiness and Your provision of deliverance!"

Orar en los Salmos - Salmo 40 - 12 de agosto de 2025 

Salmo 40:1-3 Esperé pacientemente al Señor; él se inclinó hacia mí y escuchó mi clamor. Me sacó del pozo de la destrucción, del lodo cenagoso, y puso mis pies sobre una roca, asegurando mis pasos. Puso en mi boca un cántico nuevo, un cántico de alabanza a nuestro Dios. Muchos lo verán y temerán, y pondrán su confianza en el Señor. 

En el margen de mi Biblia, he escrito: «Cuando me establezco en paz, esperando la respuesta de Dios, Él me hace saber que escucha mi clamor pidiendo ayuda, me eleva por encima de mis circunstancias cambiantes, me fortalece y me estabiliza. Pone en mi corazón un cántico que se eleva en alabanza a mi Dios. Cuando la gente ve cómo me trata y oye mi alabanza, espero que respondan a Él con la reverencia y la confianza que le corresponden. 

Tú me amas y me redimes de la condenación. Todo esto es demasiado maravilloso para expresarlo con palabras. Has abierto mis oídos a tu verdad y has escrito tu ley en mi corazón. Yo respondo: «Me deleito en hacer tu voluntad, oh Dios mío; tu ley está en mi corazón» (v. 8). En mi familia eclesiástica y más allá, declaro con alegría las buenas nuevas de la justicia de Cristo que envuelve a los suyos. No puedo callar esta verdad asombrosa, ocultándola en mi corazón. ¡No! ¡Debo proclamar en voz alta tu fidelidad y tu provisión de liberación!
