Praying in the Psalms - Psalm 92 - August 14, 2025
12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They still bear fruit in old age;
they are ever full of sap and green,
15 to declare that the Lord is upright;
he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
(Psalm 92:12-15)
The book of Psalms is full of praises to God Almighty. He is in control of my life, the good times, and the difficult times. Recently, for reasons unknown to me, this has been a season of difficult times. The difficulty lies in the circumstances beyond my control. And, I wonder why. I wonder what I have done wrong to deserve the difficulty.
This is a thought which no one who trusts in God's care should ever consider. Repentance is the only remedy. Remembering what Christ suffered for my deliverance from hell needs to be thrust before my whining heart. Then, my shame at failing to trust God causes me to rapidly choose afresh to start thinking and believing according to the "handbook of Christian life" - the Bible. In the Word of God, look at Job. God chose to release him into the hands of Satan to prove Job's faithfulness. Job complained, but he never, ever denied the sovereignty of God over his life. During Job's season of difficulty, all was beyond his control, without knowing why. Is there any Christian who is unfamiliar with these circumstances? I think not.
How often are we exactly where God wants us, in places of blessing and provision, but we don't recognize or accept that, because our emotions or the enemy's voice confuse and blind us to the truth that we are exactly where God wants us? The truth sometimes is a perfect circle. And we are standing smack in the center.
To subdue the confusion and silence the voice of the enemy, try reading verses 12–15 of Psalm 92 in reverse order. It speaks of who we are in Christ Jesus, by faith and not sight, but in truth.
…to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him……

…..they are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God.
...the righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
In his righteousness,……. in my old age, I am growing, full of sap and green, (hope and purpose), no more confused, no more believing lies from the enemy.
It is in His righteousness, in Jesus, every day, every hour.

12 Los justos florecen como palmeras
y crecen como cedros del Líbano.
13 Están plantados en la casa del Señor;
florecen en los atrios de nuestro Dios.
14 Aún en la vejez dan fruto;
siempre están llenos de savia y verdes,
15 para proclamar que el Señor es recto;
él es mi roca, y no hay injusticia en él.
(Salmo 92:12-15)
El libro de los Salmos está lleno de alabanzas a Dios Todopoderoso. Él tiene el control de mi vida, de los buenos momentos y de los momentos difíciles. Recientemente, por razones que desconozco, he atravesado una temporada difícil. La dificultad radica en circunstancias que escapan a mi control. Y me pregunto por qué. Me pregunto qué he hecho mal para merecer esta dificultad.
Este es un pensamiento que nadie que confía en el cuidado de Dios debería tener jamás. El arrepentimiento es el único remedio. Debo recordar ante mi corazón quejumbroso lo que Cristo sufrió para liberarme del infierno. Entonces, mi vergüenza por no haber confiado en Dios me lleva a elegir rápidamente volver a pensar y creer según el «manual de la vida cristiana»: la Biblia. En la Palabra de Dios, mirad a Job. Dios decidió entregarlo en manos de Satanás para probar su fidelidad. Job se quejó, pero nunca, jamás, negó la soberanía de Dios sobre su vida. Durante la temporada de dificultades de Job, todo estaba fuera de su control, sin saber por qué. ¿Hay algún cristiano que no esté familiarizado con estas circunstancias? Creo que no.
¿Cuántas veces estamos exactamente donde Dios quiere que estemos, en lugares de bendición y provisión, pero no lo reconocemos ni lo aceptamos porque nuestras emociones o la voz del enemigo nos confunden y nos ciegan a la verdad de que estamos exactamente donde Dios quiere que estemos? La verdad a veces es un círculo perfecto. Y nosotros estamos justo en el centro.
Para dominar la confusión y silenciar la voz del enemigo, intenta leer los versículos 12-15 del Salmo 92 en orden inverso. Habla de quiénes somos en Cristo Jesús, por la fe y no por la vista, sino en la verdad....
para declarar que el Señor es justo; él es mi roca, y no hay injusticia en él...
... aún en la vejez dan fruto; siempre están llenos de savia y verdes...
están plantados en la casa del Señor; florecen en los atrios de nuestro Dios....
los justos florecen como la palmera y crecen como el cedro del Líbano.
En su justicia, [...] en mi vejez, estoy creciendo, lleno de savia y verde (esperanza y propósito), sin confusión, sin creer en las mentiras del enemigo.
Es en su justicia, en Jesús, cada día, cada hora.
