The Book of Hebrews - Hebrews 10:19-25 - August 22, 2026
Sometimes, when it is a little more difficult for me to look deep into a text and understand it, I will pull out the New Living Translation and give it a read. Most times it is easier for me to grasp onto what the Word is saying. In today’s passage, I did exactly that. And I am glad that I did, because it opened my eyes to an even bigger, more fascinating picture.
The New Living Translation writes it this way: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” I want to pause there really quickly and encourage you to go back and read that one more time. How amazing is that? It is so simple, yet so profound. The whole reason we even get to dwell with the Holy One is because of Jesus and what He selflessly did on the cross. Really take a moment to ponder that. And maybe even take this moment to thank Him for His love to you in that way. Continuing: “By His death, Jesus opened a new life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.”
What you just read should have instantly placed you into a state of pure awe. The fact that Jesus would go to the cross for us and give up His life so that this can be our promise is truly unfathomable. And because of that, we will never really be able to comprehend just how good our Savior is. His love for us is beyond anything we could ever imagine.
So here are three things that I am hoping you take away from today’s passage:
You have a ticket to the Holy Place. Because of what Jesus did on the cross and the blood that was shed, you’re covered for eternity. Every sin you have ever and will ever commit has been covered, and therefore sealing a personal place for you in the presence of the Most High. That is something to be praised. And there is a key word in verse 19 that I want to highlight - “And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter Heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” It is amazing that God permits us to enter His Holy Place with boldness when we are so small and miniscule in the light of His divinity. What an intentional, selfless God He is, and what a confidence that that can give to each of us today.
Holding fast to your faith is essential. In verse 23 it tells us to “hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm”, which means to literally hold onto your faith and not let it go, no matter how tough life gets. We need to remember that Jesus is all we will ever need. What He did for us is the only thing that will ever truly matter in this life. And when the road gets windy and it’s hard to trust that He is still good, our faith will be our solid ground. That leads us to the second part of verse 23, “...for God can be trusted to keep His promise.” Friend, never forget that He is true to His word. He is an honest, trustworthy God. You can rely on Him.
Your encouragement matters. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we have been given a command to love and serve one another. Especially when we don’t feel that same kind of love from others. But regardless of how we are treated, the command remains - we are called to be a light towards others whether we want to or not. And because of the love that Jesus has so freely given us, it should naturally pour out onto the people around us if we are truly walking with Him.
May this be your invitation to let what Jesus did for you on the cross shape the way that you live for Him today. And my prayer is that you would remember how deeply you have been loved, and from that place, choose to love others in that same way.

A veces, cuando me resulta un poco más difícil profundizar en un texto y entenderlo, recurro a la Nueva Traducción Viviente y le doy una lectura. La mayoría de las veces me es más fácil captar lo que la Palabra está diciendo. En el pasaje de hoy, hice exactamente eso. Y me alegra haberlo hecho, porque abrió mis ojos a un panorama aún más grande y fascinante.
La Nueva Traducción Viviente lo escribe así: “Así que, amados hermanos, podemos entrar con valentía en el Lugar Santísimo del cielo gracias a la sangre de Jesús.” Quiero detenerme ahí rápidamente y animarte a volver a leer esa frase una vez más. ¿Qué tan increíble es eso? Es tan simple, pero tan profundo. La razón completa por la que siquiera podemos habitar con el Santo es por Jesús y lo que Él hizo desinteresadamente en la cruz. Tómate un momento para reflexionar en eso. Y quizá incluso aprovecha este momento para agradecerle por Su amor hacia ti de esa manera. Continuando: “Por su muerte, Jesús abrió un nuevo camino, vivo y vivificante, a través del velo hacia el Lugar Santísimo. Y como tenemos un gran Sumo Sacerdote que gobierna sobre la casa de Dios, entremos directamente en la presencia de Dios con corazones sinceros, plenamente confiando en Él. Porque nuestras conciencias culpables han sido purificadas con la sangre de Cristo para hacernos limpios, y nuestros cuerpos han sido lavados con agua pura. Mantengamos firmemente, sin dudar, la esperanza que afirmamos, porque Dios es digno de confianza para cumplir Su promesa. Pensemos en maneras de motivarnos unos a otros a realizar actos de amor y buenas obras. Y no dejemos de reunirnos, como algunos acostumbran, sino animémonos unos a otros, especialmente ahora que el día de Su regreso se acerca.”
Lo que acabas de leer debería haberte puesto instantáneamente en un estado de puro asombro. El hecho de que Jesús haya ido a la cruz por nosotros y entregado Su vida para que esta sea nuestra promesa es verdaderamente inconcebible. Y debido a eso, nunca podremos comprender por completo cuán bueno es nuestro Salvador. Su amor por nosotros va más allá de cualquier cosa que pudiéramos imaginar.
Aquí hay tres cosas que espero que te lleves del pasaje de hoy:
Tienes un boleto al Lugar Santísimo. Por lo que Jesús hizo en la cruz y la sangre que fue derramada, estás cubierto por la eternidad. Cada pecado que has cometido y que cometerás ha sido cubierto, asegurando así un lugar personal para ti en la presencia del Altísimo. Eso es algo digno de alabanza. Y hay una palabra clave en el versículo 19 que quiero resaltar: “Así que… podemos entrar con valentía en el Lugar Santísimo del cielo gracias a la sangre de Jesús.” Es increíble que Dios nos permita entrar en Su Lugar Santo con valentía cuando somos tan pequeños e insignificantes a la luz de Su divinidad. Qué Dios tan intencional y desinteresado es Él, y qué confianza puede darnos eso hoy.
Aferrarte a tu fe es esencial. En el versículo 23 se nos dice que “mantengamos firmemente, sin dudar, la esperanza que afirmamos”, lo cual significa literalmente aferrarte a tu fe y no soltarla, sin importar cuán difícil se ponga la vida. Necesitamos recordar que Jesús es todo lo que siempre necesitaremos. Lo que Él hizo por nosotros es lo único que realmente importará en esta vida. Y cuando el camino se vuelve sinuoso y cuesta confiar en que Él sigue siendo bueno, nuestra fe será nuestro terreno firme. Eso nos lleva a la segunda parte del versículo 23: “porque Dios es digno de confianza para cumplir Su promesa.” Amigo, nunca olvides que Él es fiel a Su palabra. Es un Dios honesto y confiable. Puedes apoyarte en Él.
Tu ánimo importa. A veces es fácil olvidar que se nos ha dado un mandato de amar y servir a los demás. Especialmente cuando no sentimos ese mismo tipo de amor de parte de otros. Pero sin importar cómo seamos tratados, el mandato permanece: estamos llamados a ser una luz para los demás, queramos o no. Y debido al amor que Jesús nos ha dado tan libremente, ese amor debería derramarse naturalmente sobre las personas a nuestro alrededor si realmente estamos caminando con Él.
Que esta sea tu invitación a dejar que lo que Jesús hizo por ti en la cruz dé forma a la manera en que vives para Él hoy. Y mi oración es que recuerdes cuán profundamente has sido amado, y que desde ese lugar elijas amar a otros de la misma manera.
