Daily Word of Encouragement 8.29.25 - Kitty Jones
Praying in the Psalms - Psalm 46 - August 29, 2025
I recommend that you read the 11 verses of Psalm 46 before reading my observations. After all, what God says is FAR more important than anything I say.
Where do you go when threatened… feeling weak… troubled… afraid? I'm sure there are as many possible responses as people are reading this sentence. We who have been rescued from ourselves and the consequences of our sin can answer, "I go to God, of course". Is that honest, or just the response we know we're supposed to give?
None of us is consistent in immediately turning to God in prayer when we are troubled. Often, we try to figure things out on our own first, right? When we trust ourselves first, we miss out on the blessing of resting in God during difficulty. Verse 2 begins with "Therefore, we will not fear". When we DO confide in God regarding our difficulties, we find our refuge and strength in Him; He calms our fears. Hallelujah!
Verses 4-7 could very well refer to the river of everlasting life flowing out of God's people when we share what He has done. We are reminded of His amazing sovereignty over all. THIS is the God Who is with us, within us, and helping us to stand! Thank You, Lord!
Verses 8-11 encourage us to "Come and see" what God does. Find encouragement in contemplating the magnificent acts of power God has accomplished on earth. He does amazing things, causing wars to cease and destroying the weapons of war when He's ready to do so. Right in the midst of the noise He makes in breaking the bow, shattering the spear, and burning the shields, He calls us to rest. "Be still, and be convinced that I am God; I will be exalted among all the nations of the earth!" He calls us to prayer!
This is the Almighty Lord who is with us, providing a protective fortress in His arms. Again I say, Hallelujah and thank You, Lord!

Te recomiendo que leas los 11 versículos del Salmo 46 antes de leer mis observaciones. Después de todo, lo que Dios dice es MUCHO más importante que cualquier cosa que yo pueda decir.
¿A dónde vas cuando te sientes amenazado, débil, atribulado o asustado? Estoy seguro de que hay tantas respuestas posibles como personas que lean esta frase. Nosotros, que hemos sido rescatados de nosotros mismos y de las consecuencias de nuestro pecado, podemos responder: «Voy a Dios, por supuesto». ¿Es eso sincero, o solo la respuesta que sabemos que se supone que debemos dar?
Ninguno de nosotros es constante a la hora de acudir inmediatamente a Dios en oración cuando estamos preocupados. A menudo, intentamos resolver las cosas por nuestra cuenta primero, ¿verdad? Cuando confiamos primero en nosotros mismos, nos perdemos la bendición de descansar en Dios durante las dificultades. El versículo 2 comienza con «Por lo tanto, no temeremos». Cuando confiamos en Dios con respecto a nuestras dificultades, encontramos nuestro refugio y nuestra fuerza en Él; Él calma nuestros temores. ¡Aleluya!
Los versículos 4-7 podrían muy bien referirse al río de vida eterna que fluye del pueblo de Dios cuando compartimos lo que Él ha hecho. Se nos recuerda Su asombrosa soberanía sobre todo. ¡ESTE es el Dios que está con nosotros, dentro de nosotros y que nos ayuda a mantenernos firmes! ¡Gracias, Señor!
Los versículos 8-11 nos animan a «venir y ver» lo que Dios hace. Encuentra ánimo al contemplar los magníficos actos de poder que Dios ha realizado en la tierra. Él hace cosas asombrosas, haciendo que cesen las guerras y destruyendo las armas de guerra cuando está listo para hacerlo. En medio del ruido que hace al romper el arco, destrozar la lanza y quemar los escudos, nos llama a descansar. «Quédate quieto y convéncete de que yo soy Dios; seré exaltado entre todas las naciones de la tierra». ¡Nos llama a la oración!
Este es el Señor Todopoderoso que está con nosotros, proporcionándonos una fortaleza protectora en Sus brazos. Una vez más digo: ¡Aleluya y gracias, Señor!
