Sermon Study Questions

My Story

1. If God asked you today, “Where are you?” (spiritually, emotionally, mentally), how would you answer?

 2. Have you ever had an experience where you’ve looked at the created world and thought, “This could never have happened by accident.” If so, describe one of those experiences and why it’s important.

Going Deeper

 1. Read Romans 1:18-20. What do these verses teach us about God? Why is it true that all people are “without excuse?” What about those who’ve seen the creation but have never heard the Gospel?

2. Read Romans 1:21-23. How does Paul describe the response of unbelievers to the revelation of God in nature?

3. Read Romans 1:24-32. What sort of depravity does Paul highlight in this dark passage of Scripture? How does our culture today view these things, and how should we, as the Church, view them?

Taking it Home

1. What is the tone of the passage that we studied this week? Was it light and happy, or dark and serious? The reality is that sometimes we come across passages that remind us of the power and depravity of sin. How should we, as Christians, treat a passage such as this and practically apply it to our everyday lives?

2. The primary argument Paul makes in this passage is that the creation points to the existence of God. Who is someone in your life that you can have a conversation with about this very thing, and hope to open the door to sharing the Gospel? Also, discuss how you would go about having a productive conversation like that?
