Sermon Study Questions 1.25.26

Icebreaker Questions

1. Are you the kind of person that likes earning something?  For example, you don't want anyone to hand you something, you'd rather work for it?  How does that mindset interact with grace as biblical concept?

2. Which is harder for you: admitting you need help, or receiving help without trying to pay it back? Why do you think that is?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Ephesians 2:1-3.  How does Paul describe those who don't know Christ?  Paul lists three influences: the world, the prince of the power of the air, and the flesh. How would you describe each one in plain language?

2. Read Ephesians 2:4-7.  What does Paul highlight about God’s character and motive (“rich in mercy,” “great love”)? Why do you think Paul starts there?

3. Read Ephesians 2:8-10.  What does Paul teach us about the nature of salvation in these verses?  How do faith and grace work hand-in-hand?

Life Application Questions

1. How has God changed you?  In reflecting on Ephesians 2:1-10, how have you seen God work in your heart to make you into the person you are now?  What is He continually working on in your heart right now and moving forward?

2. How would you use the truth found in Ephesians 2 to share the Gospel with someone else?  Walk through the key points and practice how you'd explain it with truth and love.  Who are you going to share this with?
