Sermon Study Questions 6.29.25
My Story
1. Have you ever gone through intense suffering? If so, have you seen the other side of that and how your suffering has a purpose? What sorts of purposes can only be seen through suffering?
2. Much of Romans 8 serves as a reminder that God is for His children. Do you ever struggle to feel like God is on your side? What spiritual truths comfort you when you feel that way?
Diving Deeper
1. Read Romans 8:18-25. How can this passage bring comfort to your daily life? What does it teach you about the nature of suffering?
2. Read Romans 8:26-30. Verse 28 reminds us that God is working all things together for our good. Looking at the next couple of verses, what specifically do you notice about God working for our good? In other words, what has He already done for us?
3. Read Romans 8:31-39. List the things that Paul says can never separate us from God's love. How does that truth affect your security as a Christian?
Taking it Home
1. One of the key truths that we've learned through our study of Romans 8 is that we belong to God. We are His child, and nothing can separate us from His fatherly love. How does this reality change the way you view your relationship with other people? In other words, how does your relationship with God being so secure affect the way you relate to others?
2. God has predestined, called, justified, and glorified us. Describe what those four actions of God are, and how they work together. Why is understanding the theology of salvation important for living the Christian life?
