Bible Prophecy - Revelation 19:10 - November 1, 2025

 Revelation 19:10 - Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, 'You must not do that!  I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus.  Worship God.'  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

 What is Bible prophecy?  I bet if you asked a random group of 10 Christians, you'd get different answers.

 Some people would focus on the spiritual gift of prophecy in their answer.  They would reference a passage like 1 Corinthians 14:1, which states, "Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy."  While there is certainly debate over the nature of the spiritual gift of prophecy, it is undeniable, biblically speaking, that 'prophesying' occurs, in some form, by believers.

 Others would focus on the political climate of our world and look to see how God is working to fulfill all that must take place before the Second Coming of Christ.  They would reference a passage like Matthew 24:6, which says, "And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.  See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet."  Again, there is much debate over how the 'end-times' will be ushered in and what the Second Coming will look like, but it is undeniable, biblically speaking, that Christ is coming for His Church, and we are to be ready and to pray for that day.

 For this month of devotions, I want to narrow our focus just a bit.  To be transparent, we won't be engaging much with the 'spiritual gift' aspect of prophecy this month.  I would encourage you to do your own research and study the Bible intently, seeking understanding and praying for wisdom on matters such as this.  In terms of the political climate, current events, and end-times, we will be exploring many future prophecies, and it is inevitable to be on guard and serve as a watchman for what is happening in our world today.  

 However, the primary thing that I hope to accomplish over the next 30 days with you all is that we would grow to cherish 'The testimony of Jesus.'  In Revelation 19, as referenced at the top of this devotion, an angel revealed to John that the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.  Prophecy is God's Word going forth - revealing Jesus.  Prophecy is not simply fortune-telling, but it is the proclamation of Christ.  So, in our study of 'Bible Prophecy,' let's aim to seek Jesus—understanding His person and work—at the center of it all.

 We'll be exploring many Old Testament texts that speak to the redemption of man through Christ that have already been fulfilled!  Studying fulfilled prophecy is one of the most effective ways to grow in our faith and confidence in God.  We will also spend a reasonable amount of time studying prophecies which are yet to be fulfilled.  My hope is that through our study of these, our hearts will be inflamed for the coming day of the Lord.  God desires us to passionately hasten the day when this world and the sin that characterizes it will be done away with, and we will be with the Lord, unhindered, forever.  

 Please join me in prayer for this next month to be a time of learning, encouragement, and faith-building as we study the testimony of Jesus together.

 Apocalipsis 19:10 - Entonces me postré a sus pies para adorarlo, pero él me dijo: «¡No lo hagas!  Yo soy un siervo como tú y tus hermanos que guardan el testimonio de Jesús.  Adora a Dios».  Porque el testimonio de Jesús es el espíritu de la profecía.

 ¿Qué es la profecía bíblica? Apuesto a que si le preguntaras a un grupo aleatorio de diez cristianos, obtendrías respuestas diferentes.

 Algunas personas se centrarían en el don espiritual de la profecía en su respuesta. Harían referencia a un pasaje como 1 Corintios 14:1, que dice: «Buscad el amor y desead ardientemente los dones espirituales, especialmente el de profetizar».  Aunque sin duda existe un debate sobre la naturaleza del don espiritual de la profecía, es innegable, desde el punto de vista bíblico, que los creyentes «profetizan» de alguna forma.

  Otros se centrarían en el clima político de nuestro mundo y buscarían ver cómo Dios está obrando para cumplir todo lo que debe suceder antes de la segunda venida de Cristo. Harían referencia a un pasaje como Mateo 24:6, que dice: «Y oiréis de guerras y rumores de guerras.  Mirad que no os alarméis, porque es necesario que esto suceda, pero aún no es el fin».  Una vez más, hay mucho debate sobre cómo se iniciará el «fin de los tiempos» y cómo será la Segunda Venida, pero es innegable, desde el punto de vista bíblico, que Cristo vendrá por su Iglesia, y debemos estar preparados y orar por ese día.

 Para las devociones de este mes, quiero reducir un poco nuestro enfoque. Para ser sinceros, este mes no nos ocuparemos mucho del aspecto de la profecía como «don espiritual». Os animo a que investiguéis por vuestra cuenta y estudiéis la Biblia con atención, buscando comprender y orando para obtener sabiduría en asuntos como este.  En cuanto al clima político, los acontecimientos actuales y el fin de los tiempos, exploraremos muchas profecías futuras, y es inevitable estar en guardia y servir como centinelas de lo que está sucediendo en nuestro mundo hoy en día.  

 Sin embargo, lo principal que espero lograr durante los próximos 30 días con todos ustedes es que crezcamos en el aprecio por «el testimonio de Jesús».  En Apocalipsis 19, como se menciona al principio de esta devoción, un ángel reveló a Juan que el espíritu de profecía es el testimonio de Jesús. La profecía es la Palabra de Dios que se manifiesta, revelando a Jesús.  La profecía no es simplemente adivinación, sino la proclamación de Cristo.  Por lo tanto, en nuestro estudio de la «profecía bíblica», busquemos a Jesús, comprendiendo su persona y su obra, en el centro de todo.

 Exploraremos muchos textos del Antiguo Testamento que hablan de la redención del hombre a través de Cristo, ¡que ya se ha cumplido! Estudiar las profecías cumplidas es una de las formas más eficaces de crecer en nuestra fe y confianza en Dios. También dedicaremos una cantidad razonable de tiempo a estudiar las profecías que aún no se han cumplido.  Mi esperanza es que, a través de nuestro estudio de estas, nuestros corazones se inflamen por la llegada del día del Señor. Dios desea que aceleremos con pasión el día en que este mundo y el pecado que lo caracteriza sean eliminados, y estemos con el Señor, sin obstáculos, para siempre. 

 Por favor, únanse a mí en oración para que este próximo mes sea un tiempo de aprendizaje, ánimo y fortalecimiento de la fe mientras estudiamos juntos el testimonio de Jesús.
