Bible Prophecy - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 - November 20, 2025

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 - But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.

 I love these words from Paul: “not grieve as others do who have no hope.” I grieved heavily for our first baby, who we lost to miscarriage, but there was always the reminder of the hope we have as believers, the grave will not be our final destination. I wanted this reminder to be with us so strongly that our daughter is Emery Hope Steele. 

 When Christians in Thessalonica were concerned about the fate of loved ones who had passed away, Paul wrote this passage to reassure his friends that we always have hope because of Christ and that we will see loved ones of the faith again. One day, I will get to meet this little person I was separated from in 2011. What joy it will be to worship Jesus together with those we have missed on earth! We serve an amazing Father who will gather our souls as well as our redeemed and glorified bodies from the grave!

 1 Tesalonicenses 4:13-18 - Pero no queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis lo que pasa con los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como los demás que no tienen esperanza. Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también, por medio de Jesús, Dios traerá consigo a los que han muerto. Por lo cual os declaramos por palabra del Señor, que nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que han muerto. Porque el Señor mismo descenderá del cielo con un grito de mando, con la voz de un arcángel y con el sonido de la trompeta de Dios. Y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero. Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos, seremos arrebatados junto con ellos en las nubes para encontrarnos con el Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor. Por lo tanto, animaos unos a otros con estas palabras.

 Me encantan estas palabras de Pablo: «No os entristezcáis como los demás que no tienen esperanza». Yo sufrí mucho por la pérdida de nuestro primer bebé, que aborté, pero siempre tuve presente la esperanza que tenemos como creyentes: la tumba no será nuestro destino final. Quería que este recuerdo estuviera tan presente en nosotros que llamamos a nuestra hija Emery Hope Steele.

Cuando los cristianos de Tesalónica estaban preocupados por el destino de sus seres queridos que habían fallecido, Pablo escribió este pasaje para asegurar a sus amigos que siempre tenemos esperanza gracias a Cristo y que volveremos a ver a nuestros seres queridos en la fe. Un día, podré conocer a esta personita de la que me separé en 2011. ¡Qué alegría será adorar a Jesús junto con aquellos a quienes hemos echado de menos en la tierra! ¡Servimos a un Padre maravilloso que reunirá nuestras almas, así como nuestros cuerpos redimidos y glorificados, de la tumba!
