Bible Prophecy - Isaiah 11:1-10 - November 9, 2025

Much of the Old Testament is somewhat difficult to enjoy. Oh, wait a minute! Was the Bible given to us for our enjoyment? 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” so we may be equipped for every good work. I don’t see much about my enjoyment there (unless I enjoy being taught, rebuked, corrected, and trained—and I often DO). I need to remember (and so do you) that the “less fun parts” may contain vital direction and/or insights into our God.

 Today, however, we have a delightful section to consider – plenty of fun! The book of Isaiah was written between 739 and 681 B.C. – that’s hundreds of years before Christ was born in Bethlehem!! Yet in Isaiah 11:1-10, we find a detailed prophecy of Jesus, the Messiah.

 Verse 1 - The “shoot” from the family of Jesse is Jesus, born in the line of David.

Verses 2-3 - The Holy Spirit will rest on Him: providing wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, knowledge, appropriate reverence for the Father.

Verses 3-4 - Rather than judging by what He sees and hears (like we do), He judges with righteousness and justice.

Verses 4-5 - He will destroy the wicked and judge with righteousness and faithfulness.

Verses 6-9 - There will be “peace on earth” between humans and animals, as never before experienced or imagined.

Verse 9 - The whole earth will KNOW the LORD – at least in their minds, if not their hearts.

Verse 10 - This One who comes from the line of Jesse through King David will be a sign of hope and offer a promise of eternal, glorious rest with Him, forever.

 Oh, Lord our God, we are deeply grateful for these truths which encourage our faith and give us something to smile about! We ask that You give us the fortitude to read and study every single word of our Bible, trusting You to teach, rebuke, correct, train, and give us smiles as You see fit. Thank You, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

 Gran parte del Antiguo Testamento resulta algo difícil de disfrutar. ¡Un momento! ¿Acaso se nos dio la Biblia para nuestro disfrute? 2 Timoteo 3:16 nos dice: «Toda la Escritura es inspirada por Dios y útil para enseñar, reprender, corregir e instruir en justicia», para que estemos capacitados para toda buena obra. No veo mucho de mi disfrute en esto (a menos que disfrute siendo enseñado, reprendido, corregido e instruido, ¡y a menudo lo hago!). Necesito recordar (y ustedes también) que las partes menos agradables pueden contener orientación vital y/o valiosas perspectivas sobre nuestro Dios.

 Hoy, sin embargo, tenemos una sección encantadora para considerar: ¡muy entretenida! El libro de Isaías fue escrito entre el 739 y el 681 a. C. ¡Eso fue cientos de años antes del nacimiento de Cristo en Belén! Sin embargo, en Isaías 11:1-10 encontramos una profecía detallada sobre Jesús, el Mesías.

 Versículo 1: El retoño de la familia de Jesé es Jesús, nacido en el linaje de David.

Versículos 2-3: El Espíritu Santo reposará sobre Él, dándole sabiduría, entendimiento, consejo, poder, conocimiento y la debida reverencia al Padre.

Versículos 3-4: En lugar de juzgar por lo que ve y oye (como hacemos nosotros), juzga con rectitud y justicia.

Versículos 4-5: Destruirá a los impíos y juzgará con rectitud y fidelidad.

Versículos 6-9: Habrá una paz en la tierra entre los seres humanos y los animales como nunca antes se había experimentado ni imaginado.

Versículo 9: Toda la tierra conocerá al Señor, al menos en su mente, si no en su corazón.

Versículo 10: Este, que viene del linaje de Jesé a través del rey David, será una señal de esperanza y ofrecerá la promesa de un descanso eterno y glorioso con Él, para siempre.

 Oh, Señor nuestro Dios, te agradecemos profundamente estas verdades que fortalecen nuestra fe y nos dan motivos para sonreír. Te pedimos que nos des la fortaleza para leer y estudiar cada palabra de nuestra Biblia, confiando en que Tú nos enseñarás, reprenderás, corregirás, instruirás y nos darás alegría según tu voluntad. Gracias, en el nombre de Jesús. Amén.
