Advent | The Coming Savior - Luke 2:41-52 - December 15, 2025

 As we celebrate Christmas and commemorate the coming of Jesus Christ to the world, have you ever wondered what Jesus must have been like as a teenager? Normally, when we hear about Jesus, we hear about His miracles, death, resurrection, etc.

However, not much is known about His teenage years; this is a rare glimpse into his life as a teen. Yes, our coming Savior was a teenager at one point, and He was the perfect, sinless, and divine teenager we do not always associate with kids His age. This rare story offers a glimpse into how his divinity was manifested during those years. Why were they going to the Temple in Jerusalem? According to researchers, in ancient times in Israel, it was customary to take the boys a year or two before their bar mitzvah so they could learn the operations before their big day. 

 We also celebrate the greatest of all Old Testament feasts, the Passover; these are all good reasons to have taken Jesus with them that particular year. On their way back, Mary and Joseph happen to have forgotten the future Savior of the world, the Son of Man, the Sinless Lamb, the Logos! YES! THEY FORGOT HIM! Talk about a mistake! They thought Jesus was with the caravan, and I cannot imagine the worry and fear they must have felt. However, it is not difficult to imagine what it feels like when life does not go according to plan; Mary and Joseph thought Jesus was supposed to be with them, and when they realized He wasn’t, life hit them, and we can sometimes easily forget God is still in control during those hard times.

 Jesus went to the temple, His Father’s house. He was in full control of the situation. He had to be where He was meant to be, as that was the Will of the Father. In moments of chaos, it is easy to forget that God is always sitting at His Throne; He does not stop being God or losing His full control over our lives. God did not lose control of the situation when Jesus was on the cross to die and pay for our sins.

 God has not lost control of this world, and one day our Savior will come! The message of Christmas is that Jesus came to the world, and it should be a bright reminder that He will come again for His flock. Are you excited?

Adviento | La llegada del Salvador - Lucas 2:41-52 - 15 de diciembre de 2025

 Mientras celebramos la Navidad y conmemoramos la venida de Jesucristo al mundo, ¿alguna vez has pensado cómo debió de ser Jesús cuando era adolescente? Normalmente, cuando oímos hablar de Jesús, oímos hablar de sus milagros, muerte, resurrección, etc. Sin embargo, no se sabe mucho sobre sus años de adolescencia y esta es una rara narración acerca de su vida como adolescente. Sí, nuestro Salvador venidero fue adolescente, y fue el adolescente perfecto, sin pecado y divino con el que no siempre asociamos con niños de su edad. Esta rara historia nos ofrece una visión de cómo se mostró su divinidad durante esos años. ¿Por qué iban al Templo de Jerusalén? Según los académicos, en la antigüedad en Israel, era costumbre que los chicos tardaran uno o dos años antes de su bar-mitzvá para que pudieran aprender las operaciones antes de su gran día. 

 También celebraban la mayor de todas las fiestas del Antiguo Testamento, la Pascua; todas estas son buenas razones para haber llevado a Jesús con ellos ese año en particular. De regreso, María y José olvidaron al futuro Salvador del mundo, el Hijo del Hombre, el Cordero Sin Pecado, ¡el Verbo! ¡SÍ! ¡LO DEJARON! ¡Eso sí que es un error! Pensaban que Jesús estaba con la caravana y no puedo imaginar la preocupación y el miedo que debieron de sentir. Sin embargo, no es difícil imaginar cómo se siente cuando la vida no va según lo planeado; María y José pensaban que Jesús debía estar con ellos y cuando se dan cuenta de que no lo estaba, la vida les golpea, y a veces podemos olvidar fácilmente que Dios está en control en esos momentos difíciles.

 Jesús fue al templo, a la casa de su Padre, tenía el control total de la situación, tenía que estar donde debía estar, ya que esa era la Voluntad del Padre. En momentos de caos, es fácil olvidar que Dios siempre está sentado en Su Trono, que no deja de ser Dios y de tener el control total de nuestras vidas. Dios no perdió el control de la situación cuando Jesús estaba en la cruz para morir y pagar por nuestros pecados.

 ¡Dios no ha perdido el control de este mundo y algún día vendrá nuestro Salvador! El mensaje de la Navidad es que Jesús vino al mundo, y debe ser un recordatorio brillante de que Él volverá por Su rebaño. ¿Estás emocionado?
