Attributes of God - God is Omnipotent - May 10, 2026

"Ah Lord God!  Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thou great power...Nothing is too difficult for You."  Jeremiah  32:17 " But our God does whatever He pleases."  Psalm 115:3   " So shall My Word be which goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me empty without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."  Isaiah 55:11

Most of us desire to be able to understand the hows and the whys of our everyday life, and the things that are around us; things like how our computer works/why so many people are antisemitic/why the republicans and democrats in Congress can't manage our country in peace/and why you don't have the discipline to lose 15 pounds.  When it comes to understanding God, we are almost at a total loss.  To our understanding, everything has a beginning, yet the Bible tells us that God is eternal and lives outside of time.1 Timothy 1:17 and Revelation 1:8.  Here is another fact about God that we can't wrap our minds around.  The Trinity: one God living in three persons; Genesis 1:26 "Let US make man in OUR image." As believers, we don't understand the totality of God's attributes, but we do believe them.

* Omnipotence:  He is all powerful                                             

* Immutable:  He is unchanging

* Omniscience:  He is is all knowing                                           

* Sovereign: He has supreme authority

* Omnipresence:  He is present everywhere

All this being said, here is an attribute of God that we can wrap our arms around, and be OH SO THANKFUL.

1. His love for us:  He created and loved the human race beyond measure.  When we fell into sin, His holiness could have easily justified casting all of us into the Lake of Fire, but because He loved us, He created a way for us to be forgiven and to have a place waiting for us in heaven. This is the greatest gift ever offered.

2. Here are some of the blessings that God has given to those who have accepted His gift of salvation.

a. Eternal security

b. The promise of spending eternity with Him

c. Unconditional forgiveness of sin

d.  A refuge in times of storm

e. His mercy and grace 

f. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit to help you, teach you

g. An inner joy and peace that guides you through the landmines of life, the world doesn't understand 

h. Direct access to God through prayer

“¡Ah, Señor Dios! Tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra con Tu gran poder… Nada es demasiado difícil para Ti.” Jeremías 32:17 “Pero nuestro Dios está en los cielos; Él hace todo lo que le place.” Salmo 115:3 “Así será Mi palabra que sale de Mi boca: no volverá a Mí vacía, sin haber realizado lo que deseo y logrado el propósito para el cual la envié.” Isaías 55:11

La mayoría de nosotros desea poder entender los “cómos” y los “porqués” de la vida diaria y de las cosas que nos rodean: cosas como cómo funciona nuestra computadora, por qué tantas personas son antisemitas, por qué los republicanos y demócratas en el Congreso no pueden gobernar nuestro país en paz, y por qué no tienes la disciplina para bajar 15 libras.

Pero cuando se trata de entender a Dios, estamos casi completamente limitados. Según nuestro entendimiento, todo tiene un comienzo; sin embargo, la Biblia nos dice que Dios es eterno y vive fuera del tiempo (1 Timoteo 1:17 y Apocalipsis 1:8). Aquí hay otro hecho acerca de Dios que no podemos comprender por completo: la Trinidad: un solo Dios que existe en tres personas. Génesis 1:26 dice: “Hagamos al hombre a Nuestra imagen”. Como creyentes, no entendemos la totalidad de los atributos de Dios, pero sí los creemos.

Dicho todo esto, aquí hay un atributo de Dios que sí podemos abrazar y por el cual podemos estar muy agradecidos.

1. Su amor por nosotros:
Él creó y amó a la raza humana más allá de toda medida. Cuando caímos en pecado, Su santidad fácilmente podría haber justificado que nos arrojara a todos al lago de fuego. Pero porque nos amó, Él abrió un camino para que pudiéramos ser perdonados y tener un lugar esperándonos en el cielo. Este es el regalo más grande jamás ofrecido.

2. Estas son algunas de las bendiciones que Dios ha dado a quienes han aceptado Su regalo de salvación:

a. Seguridad eterna.
b. La promesa de pasar la eternidad con Él.
c. Perdón incondicional del pecado.
d. Un refugio en tiempos de tormenta.
e. Su misericordia y gracia.
f. La presencia del Espíritu Santo habitando en ti para ayudarte y enseñarte.
g. Un gozo y una paz interior que te guían a través de las minas de la vida, algo que el mundo no entiende.
h. Acceso directo a Dios por medio de la oración.

Este verso de lo que probablemente sea el himno cristiano más conocido lo resume todo:

“Sublime gracia, dulce sonido,
que salvó a un miserable como yo.
Perdido estaba, pero fui hallado;
ciego fui, pero ahora veo.”
