Attributes of God - God is Righteous - May 16, 2026

Psalm 11:7 - For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face.

For many Christians, and those who study the Scriptures, it quickly becomes evident that this earth contains surmounting evils both in the present reality and internally. Even secularists note the apparent rapid decline of civilization, with their own reason as to why. As Christians, we are told that world contains evils all around us. A hidden realm where spiritual forces are in near constant combat with one another.

As such, it is in our nature as believers to inherently crave divine justice. As we not only observe the detestable things happening in our world, we also fall victim to it. We all desire for creation to be made new, to rid us of what befell our kind after the sin of Adam and Eve.

So much so, that Revelations 6:9-11 we are told that the thirst for righteousness is so strong among believers, that the fifth of the seven apocalyptic seals itself are the cries and pleadings of slain Christian martyrs who desire justice. Their petition to God is one of reverence and confusion.

“How long, sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth, and avenge our blood?”

For in so many areas of Scripture, we are reassured that God Almighty is the ultimate harbinger of universal judgment against the wicked. The microscopic power of sin pales to the gargantuan nature of God’s monolithic authority.

Despite all our cries, laments, anxiety, or anger, the Lord works all things for good and for glorification. We are only told, to have faith and be patient.

In few places in the Bible is it ever made as clear and concise as in Psalm 11:7.

Not only should we rely on God to faithfully administer judgment, but those who are righteous, “shall behold His face” in times of great tribulations.

Salmo 11:7 – Porque el Señor es justo y ama la justicia; los rectos verán Su rostro.

Para muchos cristianos, y para quienes estudian las Escrituras, rápidamente se hace evidente que esta tierra contiene males crecientes, tanto en la realidad presente como en nuestro interior. Incluso los secularistas notan el aparente y rápido declive de la civilización, aunque ofrecen sus propias razones para explicarlo. Como cristianos, se nos dice que el mundo contiene males a nuestro alrededor. Existe un reino invisible donde fuerzas espirituales están en combate casi constante unas contra otras.

Por eso, como creyentes, está en nuestra naturaleza anhelar profundamente la justicia divina. No solo observamos las cosas detestables que suceden en nuestro mundo, sino que también sufrimos sus consecuencias. Todos deseamos que la creación sea hecha nueva, que seamos librados de aquello que cayó sobre la humanidad después del pecado de Adán y Eva.

Tanto es así que, en Apocalipsis 6:9–11, se nos dice que la sed de justicia es tan fuerte entre los creyentes que el quinto de los siete sellos apocalípticos consiste en los clamores y súplicas de los mártires cristianos que fueron asesinados y que desean justicia. Su petición a Dios es una mezcla de reverencia y confusión:

“¿Hasta cuándo, Señor soberano, santo y verdadero, esperarás para juzgar a los habitantes de la tierra y vengar nuestra sangre?”

En muchas partes de las Escrituras se nos asegura que el Dios Todopoderoso es el juez supremo que traerá juicio universal contra los impíos. El poder microscópico del pecado palidece ante la naturaleza gigantesca de la autoridad monolítica de Dios.

A pesar de todos nuestros clamores, lamentos, ansiedad o enojo, el Señor obra todas las cosas para bien y para Su glorificación. A nosotros solo se nos dice que tengamos fe y seamos pacientes.

En pocos lugares de la Biblia esto se expresa de manera tan clara y concisa como en Salmo 11:7.

No solo debemos confiar en que Dios administrará fielmente el juicio, sino que los justos “verán Su rostro” en tiempos de gran tribulación.
