Daily Word of Encouragement 6.15.26 - Forrest Whitehall

Ezra|Esther|Nehemiah - Esther 5 - June 15, 2026

In the thick of the Persian exile of the Israelites, the villainous chancellor of the empire, Haman, convinces the king of codifying a decree that would allow the full genocide of the Jewish people less than a year in the future.

As most know, Haman was very much a prideful figure. The origin of the decree being that he ordered all subjects of the kingdom to bow before his presence. Upon only Mordecai’s refusal, his heart was set and widespread killing.

The king was elated and had no reservations in enacting such a decree. Realizing the issue, Esther and Mordecai realize it is their responsibility to save the people of Israel from this judgment.

In sound reassurance and determination, Mordecai’s words to Esther have resonated throughout the centuries,

Esther 4:14

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Esther, realizing her placement in this situation was divinely inspired, decides to use her position as Queen to save her people. She was to tell the king that she, the woman he was obsessed with, was Jewish.

She adorns herself in royal dress and makes her appearance in the royal court, showing courage, as she was never technically summoned by the king. This show of determination only drew the king in.

Esther made her request, she wished to dine privately with the king and Haman.

Parallel to this, Haman is said to have been leaving the king’s palace, and sees Mordecai. Haman is filled with rage and contempt. He likely considers killing him on the spot. God’s providential hand works in this moment, staying the anger of Haman in order for Esther’s plan to be enacted.

It was at this later feast that the truth of Esther’s identity would be revealed. The question being, would it be enough to save the people of Israel?

En medio del exilio persa de los israelitas, el malvado canciller del imperio, Amán, convence al rey de codificar un decreto que permitiría el genocidio total del pueblo judío en menos de un año.

Como la mayoría sabe, Amán era una figura sumamente orgullosa. El origen del decreto fue que él había ordenado que todos los súbditos del reino se inclinaran ante su presencia. Cuando solo Mardoqueo se negó, su corazón se decidió por una matanza generalizada.

El rey estaba complacido y no tuvo reservas en promulgar tal decreto. Al darse cuenta del problema, Ester y Mardoqueo reconocen que es su responsabilidad salvar al pueblo de Israel de este juicio.

Con firme seguridad y determinación, las palabras de Mardoqueo a Ester han resonado a lo largo de los siglos:

Ester 4:14

“Porque si callas en este tiempo, alivio y liberación surgirán para los judíos de otro lugar, pero tú y la casa de tu padre perecerán. ¿Y quién sabe si para un tiempo como este has llegado al reino?”

Ester, al darse cuenta de que su posición en esta situación había sido divinamente inspirada, decide usar su lugar como reina para salvar a su pueblo. Ella tendría que decirle al rey que ella, la mujer con la que él estaba obsesionado, era judía.

Se viste con sus ropas reales y se presenta en la corte real, mostrando valentía, ya que técnicamente nunca había sido convocada por el rey. Esta muestra de determinación solo atrajo más al rey.

Ester hizo su petición: deseaba cenar en privado con el rey y Amán.

Paralelamente a esto, se dice que Amán salía del palacio del rey y ve a Mardoqueo. Amán se llena de ira y desprecio. Probablemente considera matarlo en ese mismo momento. La mano providencial de Dios obra en ese instante, refrenando la ira de Amán para que el plan de Ester pudiera llevarse a cabo.

Fue en ese banquete posterior donde se revelaría la verdad sobre la identidad de Ester. La pregunta era: ¿sería suficiente para salvar al pueblo de Israel?
