Ezra|Esther|Nehemiah - Ezra 7:1-10 - June 20, 2026

Here, we pick up the narrative from Ezra 7, where we had left off before studying Esther.

In the previous chapter, Ezra 6, the decree to rebuild the Temple has been carried out. Yet as we enter Ezra 7, God's work is not finished. The Temple has been restored, but now the people need restoration. Before we are told what he does, we are told who he is. He is a priest, descended from Aaron, and a skilled scribe who is well-versed in the Law of God, devoted to study and teaching. More importantly, we are repeatedly told that "the hand of the Lord his God was on him." Ezra's influence did not come merely from his education, his heritage, or even the favor he received from the king. His success came because God was at work through him. The people needed someone to lead them back to God's Word.

Ezra 7:10 gives us the key to understanding his life: "For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel." Ezra devoted himself to learning and teaching God's Word. As we think about God's work of rebuilding, we should remember that He is concerned about His people. God desires to restore His people. He can use those who are devoted to Him to encourage, strengthen, and help bring renewal to others.

Perhaps the question for us today is this: What is God restoring in your life? And are you creating and practicing the kind of devotion to God's Word that allows Him to use you in the restoration of others?

Dear God, what are You trying to restore in my life? How can I be part of the restoration work You are doing in and through me? Help me to remain devoted to Your Word. Give me a heart that is eager to learn from You, obey You, and encourage others in their walk with You. Make me ready to teach others when opportunities arise, and help me to be a faithful example of Your truth. Continue to work through me for Your glory. Draw me closer to You each day, and help me to enjoy Your presence and dwell with You. May my life be shaped by Your Word and used as part of Your work of restoration in the lives of others. In your name, Amen.

Esdras | Ester | Nehemías – Esdras 7:1–10 – 20 de junio de 2026

Aquí retomamos la narrativa de Esdras 7, donde la habíamos dejado antes de estudiar Ester.

En el capítulo anterior, Esdras 6, el decreto para reconstruir el templo se había llevado a cabo. Sin embargo, al entrar en Esdras 7, la obra de Dios no ha terminado. El templo ha sido restaurado, pero ahora el pueblo necesita restauración. Antes de que se nos diga lo que Esdras hace, se nos dice quién es. Él es sacerdote, descendiente de Aarón, y un escriba hábil, bien instruido en la Ley de Dios, dedicado al estudio y a la enseñanza. Más importante aún, se nos dice repetidamente que “la mano del Señor su Dios estaba sobre él”. La influencia de Esdras no provenía simplemente de su educación, de su herencia, ni siquiera del favor que recibió del rey. Su éxito vino porque Dios estaba obrando por medio de él. El pueblo necesitaba a alguien que los guiara de regreso a la Palabra de Dios.

Esdras 7:10 nos da la clave para entender su vida: “Porque Esdras había preparado su corazón para estudiar la Ley del Señor, para practicarla y para enseñar Sus estatutos y ordenanzas en Israel”. Esdras se dedicó a aprender y enseñar la Palabra de Dios. Al pensar en la obra de reconstrucción de Dios, debemos recordar que Él se preocupa por Su pueblo. Dios desea restaurar a Su pueblo. Él puede usar a quienes están dedicados a Él para animar, fortalecer y ayudar a traer renovación a otros.

Tal vez la pregunta para nosotros hoy sea esta: ¿Qué está restaurando Dios en tu vida? ¿Y estás creando y practicando el tipo de devoción a la Palabra de Dios que le permite usarte en la restauración de otros?

Querido Dios, ¿qué estás tratando de restaurar en mi vida? ¿Cómo puedo ser parte de la obra de restauración que estás haciendo en mí y por medio de mí? Ayúdame a permanecer dedicado a Tu Palabra. Dame un corazón deseoso de aprender de Ti, obedecerte y animar a otros en su caminar contigo. Hazme estar listo para enseñar a otros cuando surjan oportunidades, y ayúdame a ser un ejemplo fiel de Tu verdad. Continúa obrando por medio de mí para Tu gloria. Acércame más a Ti cada día, y ayúdame a disfrutar Tu presencia y a habitar contigo. Que mi vida sea moldeada por Tu Palabra y usada como parte de Tu obra de restauración en la vida de otros. En Tu nombre, amén.
