Being a Healthy Christian - Jude 20-25 - July 31, 2026

Jude 1:20-25 - But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

The first word that stands out to me in this passage is the word at the very beginning, beloved. According to Merriam-Webster, the word beloved means “dearly loved or dear to the heart.” Jude uses this word to describe believers as dear to God’s own heart. At the beginning of the book, during his greeting, he says in verse 1, “Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ.” How amazing is it that God so dearly loves us! 

Jude continues, encouraging us to grow in our faith and to continue praying and persevering until Jesus’s return, when we will spend eternity in heaven with our Father. This inspires us to look forward to Jesus’s return, when we will see him face to face. In the meantime, we are to pray and spend time in God’s Word daily. Jude also tells us to look out for our brothers and sisters in Christ who may have doubts, and to show them compassion rather than criticize them for their doubts. 

Jude also reminds us of our calling and mission on Earth: to spread the gospel and lead people to Christ. In verse 23, Jude reminds us that we are in the world but not of it, and to show mercy to those who don’t believe, while also being wary of being influenced by them. Jude then ends his book by encouraging us that, even though we, as Christians, still sin and mess up, because of what Jesus did on the cross, we will be presented as blameless and righteous before God. 

Takeaway:

Let us continue to run the race that is set before us and strive to honor God in all that we do and seek him above all things. May we seek him daily in His Word and spend time in his presence in prayer, and may we spread the gospel to those around us. I pray that we would be encouraged that nothing can separate us from the Father and that we will spend eternity with him one day. 

Father, I pray that we will run the race that is set before us well. I pray that we would all grow closer to you and seek you above all things. Help us to persevere in the good times and the hard times and to honor you in all that we do. I pray we would all long to hear the words one day, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” I pray for these things in your son’s name, Amen.

Judas 1:20–25 – Pero ustedes, amados, edificándose en su santísima fe y orando en el Espíritu Santo, consérvense en el amor de Dios, esperando la misericordia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que lleva a vida eterna. Y tengan misericordia de los que dudan; salven a otros arrebatándolos del fuego; y de otros tengan misericordia con temor, aborreciendo aun la ropa contaminada por la carne. Y a Aquel que es poderoso para guardarlos sin caída y presentarlos sin mancha delante de Su gloria con gran alegría, al único Dios, nuestro Salvador, por medio de Jesucristo nuestro Señor, sea gloria, majestad, dominio y autoridad, antes de todos los tiempos, ahora y por siempre. Amén.

La primera palabra que me llama la atención en este pasaje es la palabra que aparece al principio: amados. Según Merriam-Webster, la palabra beloved significa “profundamente amado o querido para el corazón”. Judas usa esta palabra para describir a los creyentes como queridos para el propio corazón de Dios. Al comienzo del libro, durante su saludo, dice en el versículo 1: “Judas, siervo de Jesucristo y hermano de Santiago, a los llamados, amados en Dios Padre y guardados para Jesucristo”. ¡Qué asombroso es que Dios nos ame tan profundamente!

Judas continúa animándonos a crecer en nuestra fe y a seguir orando y perseverando hasta el regreso de Jesús, cuando pasaremos la eternidad en el cielo con nuestro Padre. Esto nos inspira a esperar con anhelo el regreso de Jesús, cuando lo veremos cara a cara. Mientras tanto, debemos orar y pasar tiempo diariamente en la Palabra de Dios. Judas también nos dice que cuidemos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo que puedan tener dudas, y que les mostremos compasión en lugar de criticarlos por sus dudas.

Judas también nos recuerda nuestro llamado y misión en la tierra: compartir el evangelio y guiar a las personas a Cristo. En el versículo 23, Judas nos recuerda que estamos en el mundo, pero no somos del mundo, y que debemos mostrar misericordia a quienes no creen, al mismo tiempo que tenemos cuidado de no ser influenciados por ellos. Luego Judas termina su libro animándonos con la verdad de que, aunque nosotros como cristianos todavía pecamos y fallamos, por lo que Jesús hizo en la cruz seremos presentados sin mancha y justos delante de Dios.

Conclusión:

Sigamos corriendo la carrera que tenemos por delante y esforcémonos por honrar a Dios en todo lo que hacemos, buscándolo por encima de todas las cosas. Que lo busquemos diariamente en Su Palabra y pasemos tiempo en Su presencia en oración, y que compartamos el evangelio con quienes nos rodean. Oro para que seamos animados al recordar que nada puede separarnos del Padre y que un día pasaremos la eternidad con Él.

Padre, oro para que corramos bien la carrera que tenemos por delante. Oro para que todos nos acerquemos más a Ti y te busquemos por encima de todas las cosas. Ayúdanos a perseverar en los buenos tiempos y en los tiempos difíciles, y a honrarte en todo lo que hacemos. Oro para que todos anhelemos escuchar un día las palabras: “Bien hecho, buen siervo y fiel”. Oro estas cosas en el nombre de Tu Hijo. Amén.
