Praying in the Psalms - Psalm 8 - August 16, 2025 

Psalms 8:1-9 NIV 

[1] Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. [2] Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. [3] When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, [4] what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? [5] You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. [6] You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: [7] all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, [8] the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. [9] Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! 

This chapter both begins and ends with the same beautiful declaration: "LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" 

How often do we truly praise our Lord? If I'm honest, there are times I struggle with this. It's easy to get caught up in the distractions of the world — our routines, worries, and desires — and unintentionally neglect giving God the praise, attention, and time He deserves. 

Verses 3–4 remind us of the wonder of God's creation: the heavens, the moon, the stars — the vastness of it all. And yet, in the midst of it, God cares deeply about us. He not only created us, but gave us glory and honor, placing us as rulers over the works of His hands. And more than that — He sent His Son to die for our sins. 

He deserves our praise. He deserves for us to start and end our prayers by lifting up His name. We should praise Him not just in passing or as a habit, but with intention and sincerity — through the good, the bad, and the everyday. 

Let's be deliberate in our praise. Let it not be just another phrase we say without heart, but a genuine expression of awe, gratitude, and love for our majestic Lord. 

Dear God, 

How majestic is Your name in all the earth! Thank You for everything You have done for us, and for being such an amazing God, worthy of all our praise. Help us to begin everything and to end everything the same way, in praise. You are unchanging, full of infinite power and wisdom. Truly, how outstanding is Your name.

Orando en los Salmos - Salmo 8 - 16 de agosto de 2025 

Salmos 8:1-9 NVI 

[1] ¡Oh Señor, Señor nuestro, cuán majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! Has puesto tu gloria en los cielos. [2] Por la alabanza de los niños y de los que maman, has establecido un refugio contra tus enemigos, para silenciar al enemigo y al vengador. [3] Cuando contemplo tus cielos, obra de tus dedos, la luna y las estrellas que tú has creado, [4] ¿qué es el hombre para que te acuerdes de él, el ser humano para que te preocupes por él? [5] Lo hiciste un poco inferior a los ángeles y lo coronaste de gloria y honor. [6] Los hiciste señores sobre las obras de tus manos; todo lo pusiste bajo sus pies: [7] todas las ovejas y los bueyes, y los animales salvajes, [8] las aves del cielo y los peces del mar, todo lo que surca los senderos del mar. [9] Señor, Señor nuestro, ¡cuán majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! 

Este capítulo comienza y termina con la misma hermosa declaración: «Señor, Señor nuestro, ¡cuán majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra!». 

¿Con qué frecuencia alabamos verdaderamente a nuestro Señor? Si soy sincero, hay momentos en los que me cuesta hacerlo. Es fácil dejarse llevar por las distracciones del mundo —nuestras rutinas, preocupaciones y deseos— y, sin querer, descuidar el dar a Dios la alabanza, la atención y el tiempo que se merece. 

Los versículos 3 y 4 nos recuerdan la maravilla de la creación de Dios: los cielos, la luna, las estrellas, la inmensidad de todo ello. Y, sin embargo, en medio de todo ello, Dios se preocupa profundamente por nosotros. No solo nos creó, sino que nos dio gloria y honor, y nos puso como gobernantes sobre las obras de sus manos. Y más aún: envió a su Hijo a morir por nuestros pecados. 

Él merece nuestra alabanza. Merece que comencemos y terminemos nuestras oraciones exaltando Su nombre. Debemos alabarlo no solo de pasada o por costumbre, sino con intención y sinceridad, en lo bueno, en lo malo y en lo cotidiano. 

Seamos deliberados en nuestra alabanza. Que no sea solo otra frase que decimos sin sentir, sino una expresión genuina de asombro, gratitud y amor por nuestro majestuoso Señor. 

Querido Dios 

¡Cuán majestuoso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! Gracias por todo lo que has hecho por nosotros y por ser un Dios tan maravilloso, digno de toda nuestra alabanza. Ayúdanos a comenzar y terminar todo de la misma manera, con alabanza. Tú eres inmutable, lleno de poder y sabiduría infinitos. Verdaderamente, cuán excelente es tu nombre.
