Praying in the Psalms - Psalm 33- August 20, 2025 

In the 33rd Psalm, we are shown the purest essence and form of praise to the Almighty. 

The Psalmist commands the followers of God to exclaim their praise in such a way that drowns out any other focus or ambitions. A heart and soul completely locked onto demonstrating a profound love for God. 

Even exemplifying this in the form of great shouts. The secular world is accustomed to shouting for the glorification of sports, political leaders, and other worldly endeavors. Should we also not offer exultation to the Great I Am? 

Further demonstrating God’s sovereignty, the Psalmist shows how God’s hand is over all nations and rulers, telling of their vain ambitions and the weakness of their armies. It is known that any nation that does not fear God is a nation destined for ruin and wrath. 

Almost a millennium later, Jesus became the personification of the reason for our praise. The free gift of salvation is worthy of the utmost jubilee. 

Just as God spoke creation into being, and sent his voice into the law, prophets, and the Living Word, so too should we return our voice skyward, toward the throne. 

“Put off oldness ye know the new song. A new man, a New Testament, a new song. A new song belongeth not to men that are old; none learn that but new men, renewed through grace from oldness, and belonging now to the New Testament, which is the kingdom of heaven.” - Augustine

Orando en los Salmos - Salmo 33- 20 de agosto de 2025 

En el Salmo 33 se nos muestra la esencia y la forma más pura de alabanza al Todopoderoso. 

El salmista ordena a los seguidores de Dios que proclamen su alabanza de tal manera que ahogue cualquier otro interés o ambición. Un corazón y un alma completamente enfocados en demostrar un amor profundo por Dios. 

  Incluso ejemplificándolo en forma de grandes gritos. El mundo secular está acostumbrado a gritar para glorificar los deportes, los líderes políticos y otros esfuerzos mundanos. ¿No deberíamos también ofrecer exultaciones al Gran Yo Soy? 

Demostrando aún más la soberanía de Dios, el salmista muestra cómo la mano de Dios está sobre todas las naciones y gobernantes, hablando de sus vanas ambiciones y la debilidad de sus ejércitos. Es sabido que cualquier nación que no teme a Dios es una nación destinada a la ruina y la ira. 

Casi un milenio después, Jesús se convirtió en la personificación de la razón de nuestra alabanza. El don gratuito de la salvación es digno del mayor júbilo. 

  Así como Dios habló y creó el mundo, y envió su voz a la ley, a los profetas y a la Palabra viva, también nosotros debemos elevar nuestra voz hacia el cielo, hacia el trono. 

  «Despojaos de lo viejo, cantad lo nuevo. Un hombre nuevo, un Nuevo Testamento, un canto nuevo. El canto nuevo no pertenece a los viejos; nadie lo aprende sino los nuevos, renovados por la gracia de lo viejo, y pertenecientes ahora al Nuevo Testamento, que es el reino de los cielos». - Agustín
