The Kingdom of God - Acts 8:4-12 - September 27, 2026
Persecution, trials & hardships often cause the most growth and bear the most fruit in our lives rather than times of ease or comfort. Why is that?
It seems to go against our nature to grow when times are difficult - yet that is exactly where God wants us to be - wholly dependent upon Him.
In Acts 8:4-12, the Jerusalem church faced great persecution. Stephen had been stoned to death, Saul (later Paul) was dragging Christians out of their homes and throwing them in prison, and the church at large seemed to have scattered. Yet God used this scattering to further His Kingdom and make an even greater impact.
We also see an unusual convert, Simon the Sorcerer. He was amazed and impressed by the signs and miracles Phillip was performing.
However, Simon's faith was shallow and transactional. He desired the miracle-giving power more than a relationship with the miracle-giver.
My prayer for you is that you seek the heart of God and see where He wants to grow your faith. What hardship can God use that can further His Kingdom?
Ask God to show you how He can use your story for His greater glory.
