The Kingdom of God - Revelation 11:15 - September 30, 2026

Revelation 11:15 LSB - "Then the seventh angel sounded, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.'"

Have you ever experienced such emotional pain or anguish to the point you wish Jesus would descend from the heavens and rapture you at that moment? Or are the stresses of daily life and seemingly irreconcilable issues wearing you down to the point where you want to throw in the towel? I know Paul the apostle wrestled with something similar, saying, "I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better indeed. But it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body." I know life on this earth can get difficult, but we must hold fast to the promises of God that one day "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore"...

This passage reminds me where our hearts and minds should be directed and shows me the substance of our hope. As the psalmist once sang, "I lift my eyes unto the hills to where my help comes from," let us fix our eyes on the heavens to where our final consoler will come from as the eklesia prayerfully awaits the day when all our problems will vanish at the moment when Satan, the ruler of this world, shall be vanquished forever.

The kingdoms of this world will be obliterated once and for all, while "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh" then hold them in derision, "Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure, saying: 'Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion. 'I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel." The principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and the spiritual wickedness of the high places won't stand a chance when the host of heaven gallops down on his white horse, holding 7 stars, with a sharp, double-edged sword coming forth from his mouth, face shining like the sun in all its brilliance, with a battle cry of trillions of trumpets causing the feet and hearts of the enemy to tremble.

Let's rejoice that if we are believers in His Christ, then we are part of His kingdom, which is not of this world. We will one day be like the multitudes in heaven, proclaiming with loud voices that the seven-horned and seven eyed lamb of God, the only one worthy to open the seven seals, has overthrown the oppressive earthly reign of the accuser and deceiver of the whole world and has ushered in a new regime of peace on earth and goodwill to mankind. We must set our minds on things above and "not be so earthly minded that we are no heavenly good" as CS Lewis famously wrote.

Lord, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
