The Gospel of Luke - Luke 7 - September 9, 2025
This chapter of Luke recounts miracles of healing from illness, from death, and from broken hearts, as well as a debt owed yet forgiven. Which of the stories touched you most deeply? Which comes closest to a miracle you would like to receive? Do miracles like these happen in this 21st century? Do they happen to you and me personally?
In my life, I encounter miracles all the time. I call them “God Moments”. They are events, words, or thoughts that happen unexpectedly—like finding the keys in the drawer where you already looked. But you felt the nudge to look again. Or you knew you had to ask a friend to forgive you for something, and suddenly they were standing behind you at the coffee shop. A few years ago, I received an unexpected inheritance, one that made it possible to pay an impossible debt. The God moment is what overwhelms me when tragedy hits.
In the daily scheme of living, these God moments tend to change who I am, what I want, how I experience the next day or week or year. My expectation of God’s generosity grows. My thankfulness to him cannot be contained. In praise, I have to raise my hands to him. Even when the dark days come, I know that he will soon bring the sun out.
Never has he failed me. The faith of Jesus Christ brought him through death on the cross. The same faith of Jesus resides in me to carry me triumphantly through, over, and around the hard times unto victory.
There are no coincidences in the life of a Christian. God sees everything we do, are, and think. Nothing is outside of his view or understanding or steadfast love. He lets me know this is true by those miracles I call God Moments. They are always ready to be recognized.
Like me, you just have to watch out for them when they tap you on the shoulder or show up unexpectedly. His steadfast love has prepared moments just for you. Especially when you feel you can’t face another day.
Miracles are said to be outside of normal conditions. Our God is far above and beyond normal conditions. The great miracle is that he lives inside of all who call him Lord and Savior. And he died to prove his everlasting love for us. Then by the power of the Holy Spirit, he rose from the dead to seal the deal of our eternal life in Him.

Este capítulo de Lucas relata milagros de curación de enfermedades, de la muerte y de corazones rotos, así como una deuda que aún no ha sido pagada pero que ha sido perdonada. ¿Cuál de estas historias te ha conmovido más profundamente? ¿Cuál se acerca más al milagro que te gustaría recibir? ¿Ocurren milagros como estos en el siglo XXI? ¿Nos ocurren a ti y a mí personalmente?
En mi vida, me encuentro con milagros todo el tiempo. Los llamo «momentos divinos». Son acontecimientos, palabras o pensamientos que ocurren de forma inesperada, como encontrar las llaves en el cajón donde ya habías mirado. Pero sentiste la necesidad de volver a mirar. O sabías que tenías que pedirle perdón a un amigo por algo y, de repente, lo viste detrás de ti en la cafetería. Hace unos años, recibí una herencia inesperada, que me permitió pagar una deuda imposible. El momento divino es lo que me abruma cuando ocurre una tragedia.
En el esquema cotidiano de la vida, estos momentos divinos tienden a cambiar quién soy, qué quiero, cómo experimento el día siguiente, la semana siguiente o el año siguiente. Mi expectativa de la generosidad de Dios crece. Mi gratitud hacia él es incontenible. En alabanza, tengo que levantar mis manos hacia él. Incluso cuando llegan los días oscuros, sé que pronto hará salir el sol.
Nunca me ha fallado. La fe de Jesucristo lo llevó a la muerte en la cruz. La misma fe de Jesús reside en mí para llevarme triunfalmente a través, por encima y alrededor de los momentos difíciles hasta la victoria.
No hay coincidencias en la vida de un cristiano. Dios ve todo lo que hacemos, somos y pensamos. Nada está fuera de su vista, su comprensión o su amor inquebrantable. Él me hace saber que esto es cierto a través de esos milagros que yo llamo «momentos de Dios». Siempre están listos para ser reconocidos.
Al igual que yo, solo tienes que estar atento a ellos cuando te tocan el hombro o aparecen inesperadamente. Su amor inquebrantable ha preparado momentos solo para ti. Especialmente cuando sientes que no puedes afrontar otro día.
Se dice que los milagros están fuera de las condiciones normales. Nuestro Dios está muy por encima y más allá de las condiciones normales. El gran milagro es que él vive dentro de todos los que lo llaman Señor y Salvador. Y murió para demostrar su amor eterno por nosotros. Luego, por el poder del Espíritu Santo, resucitó de entre los muertos para sellar el pacto de nuestra vida eterna en Él.
