Sermon Study Questions 1.18.26

Icebreaker Questions

1. When life gets stressful, what do you naturally run to first: distraction, control, comfort, people, or prayer? How has that “go-to” helped you… and how has it hurt you?

2. What’s the difference (in your experience) between knowing a truth and living it out? What’s one truth you know you believe… but struggle to obey consistently?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Matthew 7:24-27.  What's the difference between the two houses that Jesus describes?  How does listening and obeying Jesus help build a solid foundation for the storms of life?

2. Read John 1:1-14.  What does this passage teach us about the identity of the true Jesus that we should build our life upon?

3. Read 1 Corinthians 15:2-4.  What did Jesus do for us?  What did Jesus' life, death, and resurrection accomplish for us?

Life Application

1. Right now, what’s your foundation most functionally resting on: approval, comfort, control, achievement, relationships, or Christ? What “storm” tends to expose that (conflict, money stress, criticism, loneliness, fear)?

2. If Jesus is not a bronze-medal Savior but Lord, what would it look like to give Him first place practically? Name one “first place” indicator you could change this week (time, spending, entertainment, priorities, confession, serving).
