Sermon Study Questions 12.21.25

Icebreaker Questions

1. What is something that has happened in your life that was 'unexpected?'  How do you tend to respond to unexpected happenings - trusting God, questioning Him, confusion, anger, etc.?

2. How have you seen God use an unexpected situation or set of circumstances to work all things together for your good (Rom 8:28)?

Diving Deeper

1. Read 1 Corinthians 1:27-29.  What does this passage teach us about the methods that God uses in the world?  How does that connect to the Christmas story?

2. Read Genesis 50:20.  How does God use evil in the world?  How should this affect the way we live day-to-day?

3. Read Psalm 34:18.  How does the Christmas story and the work of Jesus make the promise of this verse sure?  How does that make you feel?

Life Application

1. What is the biggest 'unexpected' thing that you are dealing with right now?  How can God use this situation to bring His name glory and work for the good of His people - and what role will you play in that?

2. Take time to pray for our church family and one another.  The truth that God is with us in the unexpected should inspire us to trust and lean on Him - so spend time praying for others and asking the Lord's guidance, peace, etc.
