Icebreaker Questions

1. Paul says, "For me, to live is Christ."  If you're being honest, how would you most often end the statement: "For me, to live is __________."  (comfort, success, money, family, etc.)

2. We are created to magnify the Lord, or in other words, be a "telescope" pointing to Him.  If others were to look at you as a "telescope," where would their eyes be directed?  Put another way - what are you "magnifying" to others on a daily basis?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Philippians 1:19.  How does this verse show Paul's maturity?  What is the difference between a shallow and mature faith?

2. Read Philippians 1:20.  What does Paul mean by magnifying Christ with his body?  What should this mean for our lives today?

3. Read Philippians 1:21.  What are the two shocking statements Paul puts side by side in this verse.  How do they relate to one another?  How do they compliment each other when thinking about the whole of the Christian life?

Life Application Questions

1. What are the things that tend to crowd your vision and take over your life?  For Paul, he let Christ be at the center of his daily vision.  What active step is God asking you to take this week to allow Christ to take over your vision of life?

2. How does thinking about eternity impact your daily life today?  Here's a challenge:  Find an hour this week to separate yourself from the busyness of life to meditate on the reality of heaven.  Pray and seek the Lord for that time - and see what the outcome is in your heart.  Perhaps you'll be able to say with Paul, "To die is gain."
