Sermon Study Questions 6.1.25
My Story
1. Do you have regular family gatherings? Would you describe your family as messy? In your own words, what makes a family a family? In other words, what is the essence of true family?
2. Has your Church experience felt like family, or like going to a restaurant? Be honest, do you feel like Church is generally a family or an event that you attend most of the time?
Diving Deeper
1. Read Proverbs 14:4. How does this illustration relate to the Church as a messy family? What is the best way to thrive in the midst of a messy family?
2. Read Ephesians 2:19. What does it mean to be a member of God's family? What does that make your fellow Christians to you? What does that make God to you? How do you see human family units reflected in the Church?
3. Read John 13:35. What does Jesus say will be the true evidence of our salvation in this verse? How can you practically live this out?
Taking it Home
1. "Church is not an event I attend. It's a family to which I belong." Given the power of that statement, how are you going to change your approach to coming to "church" every Sunday? How does the reality of being a part of a church "family" change the way you worship and interact with others?
2. What is a practical step that you can take this summer to grow closer to someone or a group of people in your Church family? Do you need to join a growth group? Do you need to begin serving? Do you need to reach out to someone who God has put on your heart?
