Icebreaker Questions

If complaining were an Olympic event, what everyday event would you win a gold medal in?

2. Who is one of the most consistently joyful people you've ever met? What made them different?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Philippians 2:14-15. The sermon suggested that grumbling ultimately questions God's goodness, sovereignty, or plan. Which of those is hardest for you to trust when life doesn't go your way?

2. Read Philippians 2:15-16. Why do you think people often notice our attitude before they listen to our message?

3. Read Philippians 2:16-18. Paul talks about rejoicing even if his life is 'poured out' as a sacrifice.  What does that teach us about where true joy comes from?

Life Application Questions

1. What usually causes your complaining?  (Frustration, pride, fear, unmet expectations, feeling out of control, etc.)  Give specifics.  Talk through a plan to root out your ungodly tendencies and replace them with God-honoring ones.

2. Try the "No Grumbling" challenge this week.  Before complaining, ask: Is this true?  Is this helpful?  Will this honor Christ?  Replace every complaint with either: A prayer, an expression of gratitude, or a constructive solution.
