Sermon Study Questions 7.26.26

Icebreaker Questions
1. Have you ever put your trust in something that seemed solid but eventually disappointed you?
2. What is the most common area of life (family, work, finances, health, etc.) where your joy tends to be stolen? How can Gospel confidence remedy that stolen joy?
Diving Deeper
1. Read Philippians 3:1. With the suffering and uncertainty of life that all of us face, the command "rejoice in the Lord" can feel like an attack. What gives Paul the right to lay down this command, and how can it be freeing rather than restricting?
2. Read Philippians 3:2. What are some modern-day examples of "confidence in the flesh"? How can we, as a Church, fight against the heresies and false gospels of today?
3. Read Philippians 3:3. Which of these three descriptions do you most need to grow in? (Worshiping by the Spirit, boasting in Christ, putting no confidence in yourself)
Life Application Questions
1.What "chair" have you been resting the weight of your life on besides Christ? (Career, family, financial security, reputation, ministry, health, other) Confess it. Surrender it.
2. One of the applications from the sermon was "Begin Every Day with Gospel Confidence." What are some practical habits that you can build into your day (perhaps first thing in the morning) to grow in this Gospel Confidence?
