Icebreaker Questions

1. If you had to remove every title from your life (job, parent, coach, pastor, etc.), what would be hardest to lose?

2. Have you ever spent a lot of time pursuing something only to realize later it wasn't as important as you thought?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Philippians 3:4-6. What sorts of things are on Paul's "spiritual resume?"  Why is this sort of thinking so tempting to us - to put our confidence in the flesh?

2. Read Philippians 3:7. What key decision does Paul make about his life?  Have you made this same decision?  What are the things that hold you back from fully surrendering to Christ?

3. Read Philippians 3:8-9. How is Christ exalted in this text?  What things must we remind ourselves of during this earthly life?

Life Application Questions

1. Every morning this week, before starting your day, pray: "Jesus, thank You that my worth isn't based on my accomplishments, my failures, or what others think of me. My confidence is in Your finished work. Help me live today from Your grace instead of trying to earn it." Then ask yourself: "Am I trying to impress people today, or simply be faithful to Christ?"

2. How can we remind ourselves this week that our joy isn't built on our popularity, performance, or plan, but on Jesus Christ?  What practical things can we do to build in these reminders?
