Icebreaker Questions

1. What's one food that you didn't like until you actually tried it?  How does the experience of tasting food relate to experiencing God rather than simply hearing about Him?

2. Do you have, or have you ever had, a "safe place" that you could retreat to and hide away and be alone?  How does this idea of a "safe place" relate to David's description of the blessed man in Psalm 34:8?

Diving Deeper

1. Read Psalm 34:8.  Describe what it means to "taste" and "see" that God is good?  Apart from something that we can say "amen" to, how do we practically live in a way where we are regularly experiencing God's goodness?

2. Read Psalm 34:9-14.  How does knowing and experiencing the goodness of God transform our lives?  What changes take place over the course of the Christian life because of it?

3. Read Romans 8:1.  How does the promise that Paul includes here relate to Psalm 34 and David's testimony?

Life Application

1. Where in your life are you relying on secondhand knowledge of God rather than personally "tasting" His goodness?  What's one step you can take this week to personally experience Him?

2. Psalm 34 teaches us clearly that God is our refuge, our safe place.  When you experience times of trouble, where do you run?  Do you run to God, or do you run to other things?  How can you grow in responding to trials by trusting Jesus?
