Sermon Study Questions 9.27.26

Icebreaker Question
1. When you hear the phrase “follow Jesus,” what is the first image, word, or idea that comes to mind? Why do you think that image or idea stands out to you?
Diving Deeper
1. Read Luke 5:27-28 and Philippians 3:7-8. What did Levi and Paul leave behind to follow Jesus? What do these passages teach us about the cost—and the value—of following Jesus?
2. Read John 10:27, Psalm 119:105, and 2 Timothy 3:16-17. According to these passages, how does Jesus speak to his people today? What role does Scripture play in helping believers recognize and follow the Shepherd’s voice?
3. Read John 14:15, James 1:22-25, and Luke 6:46-49. What connection do these passages make between hearing God’s Word and obeying it? Why is obedience such an important part of following Jesus?
4. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 12:2, and Philippians 1:6. What do these passages teach about the kind of transformation God produces in his people? How is biblical transformation different from mere self-improvement or behavior modification?
Life Application
1. On Sunday, we learned that following Jesus means leaving something, listening to his voice, obeying him, and being transformed by him. As you think about the week ahead, what is one specific step Jesus may be asking you to take—and what would it look like to follow through on that step this week?
